On January 8, with the precise connection of the final section of the bridge deck structure, the main pier steel platform of the National Highway Changchang Line (Dalian Changhai Bridge Project), undertaken by China State Construction Engineering Corporation as the lead contractor with China Construction Sixth Engineering Bureau as a participating contractor, was successfully completed despite severe cold weather conditions. As the "lifeline" of bridge construction, the smooth completion of this platform not only marks a major breakthrough in a key controlling milestone of the project, but also opens up a critical transport corridor for subsequent main bridge construction, laying a solid foundation for the steady progress of the project.

　　Since construction began on June 25, 2025, the project team has continuously contended with multiple challenges posed by the complex sea conditions in the northern Yellow Sea region. After the onset of winter, the minimum temperature at the construction site dropped below minus 10 degrees Celsius, with biting cold winds and surging waves creating extremely harsh construction conditions. During the 2026 New Year's Day holiday, all construction workers put the project before their personal lives, resolutely staying at the construction front line and launching a race against time in the bitter cold wind. Facing the severe climate, the project team strictly implemented all winter construction safeguard measures, successfully overcoming the dual challenges of low-temperature freezing and offshore wind and waves through a combination of optimized process sequencing, shift-based operations, and full-process insulation and anti-freezing measures at key work points, vigorously tackling difficulties and effectively ensuring that key project milestones progressed on schedule.

　　It is understood that the superstructure of the steel platform and the trestle bridge adopts a truss form, with the substructure supported by steel pipe piles 820 mm in diameter, giving the overall structure strong stability. In response to the challenges that low temperatures pose to steel welding operations, the project team formulated a dedicated winter construction plan to ensure that every weld seam meets quality standards. Throughout construction, the team consistently upheld the dual bottom lines of safety and quality, achieving the dual goals of zero personnel safety incidents and zero engineering quality defects.

　　As an important cross-sea corridor connecting the Dalian urban area with Changhai County, the Changhai Bridge will, once completed and opened to traffic, completely end the island's history of relying on ship transport. The completion of the main pier steel platform and trestle bridge not only fully opens up work fronts for subsequent procedures such as main bridge pile foundations, pile caps, and tower columns, but also marks the project's official entry into a new stage of accelerated main works construction.

　　It is understood that the Dalian Changhai Bridge project is divided into four contract sections. Section 1 is currently steadily advancing subgrade earth and rock excavation; Section 2 is constructing the main bridge and the east and west approach bridges simultaneously; Section 3 is pushing ahead at full speed on the steel trestle bridge; and Section 4 is carrying out sea and land pile foundation work in an orderly manner, having basically achieved the expected construction targets. In 2026, the Changhai Bridge project will continue to increase resource investment, optimize construction processes, strengthen safety and quality control, and accelerate project construction to ensure that construction milestones advance as planned.
