At 8:40 on July 17, a soil landslide occurred at Wanshuitian, Group 1, Jiajiadian Village, Guizhou Town, Zigui County, with a volume of about 800,000 cubic meters. Because no one lives within the landslide area, the landslide slid as a whole into the gully below, damaging 1,200 meters of village road (Wugao Road) and 60 mu of citrus orchards. As of now, there have been no casualties.

At around 8:00 on July 17, villagers noticed that the surface of Wugao Road was arching upward, shouted to four villagers working in the danger zone to evacuate in time, and reported the situation to the village committee, the town government, and the town land office. The local government immediately took emergency measures, imposing traffic control at the site, sealing off the area, and setting up a warning zone. Experts from the Provincial Department of Natural Resources said the landslide was mainly caused by earlier heavy rainfall; the slope where the landslide occurred has a gradient of about 35° and is a dip slope. The rear edge of the landslide slid down along the rock strata and accumulated at the front edge, blocking the gully.

Provincial geological experts have arrived in the disaster area and are closely monitoring the movement of the landslide mass, and the county government is further verifying the disaster situation.
