On September 2, after nearly two years of intensive construction, the main works of the public wharf project in the Yinshawan Operation Area of the Hukou Port District of Jiujiang Port have recently been officially completed, marking a solid step by this key infrastructure project toward full commissioning and operation.
At the project construction site, a large modern wharf with a total length of 656 meters and five 5,000-tonne-class berths stands on the right bank of the middle-lower section of the Hukou waterway of the Yangtze River. "Since construction began on September 5, 2024, the construction team has successively overcome a series of technical challenges, including underwater soft foundations and complex karst geology. All pile foundation construction was completed in March this year, and the main wharf structure was successfully concluded in August," said Project Manager Jia Zhongkui. Construction of ancillary structures is currently proceeding in parallel, and the next priority will be the installation of nine gantry crane units.

"Once the wharf is put into use, it will significantly improve regional waterway transport efficiency and provide a more convenient, lower-cost logistics channel for the Yinshawan Industrial Park and surrounding enterprises," Jia Zhongkui said. In addition to the main wharf, the project also includes supporting facilities such as a wood chip yard, sand and gravel and grain transfer warehouses, and a parking lot, giving it the functions of a comprehensive logistics hub. By then, the wharf will have a designed annual throughput capacity of 7.3 million tonnes, mainly serving enterprises in the Yinshawan Industrial Park of the Hukou High-tech Industrial Park, with cargo types handled including coal, wood chips, metal ore, sand and gravel, and soybeans. The entire wharf will officially meet the conditions for operation in the first quarter of 2027.
