In the past, conducting a "health check" on a water-crossing bridge pier often meant cumbersome equipment and high costs, requiring risky in-water operations—a tough "hard nut to crack" in maintenance work. Now, this problem has a new solution. The maintenance technical team has rooted itself in the maintenance frontline and, starting from actual pain points, created an underwater pile foundation inspection instrument integrating high-definition imaging, environmental sensing, and cloud storage, moving underwater inspection from "high-risk operations" to "fingertip control." The device is equipped with a wide-angle underwater camera and multiple types of sensor modules; the probe can rotate 360° with no blind spots, acting like a nimble "underwater eye" that clearly captures every line and every defect on the pile foundation surface. Managers can access and view the images at any time on a computer or mobile phone, gaining immediate insight into the "health status" of bridge piers.

At present, pilot applications have been completed on 5 water-crossing bridge piers, collecting a large amount of high-definition imaging data. Compared with traditional methods, maintenance costs have been significantly reduced and inspection efficiency greatly improved, truly achieving "spend less, accomplish more, and do it well," providing solid first-hand evidence for bridge safety assessment and defect treatment.
