Recently, the pile foundation works of the Shugang Avenue Overpass in Section 1 of the National Highway G325 project undertaken by the Infrastructure Branch of China Railway Construction Engineering Group were successfully completed, laying a solid process and quality foundation for the orderly advancement of the subsequent bridge substructure works and effectively ensuring the steady progress of the overall construction schedule of the National Highway G325 project.
The Shugang Avenue Overpass has a total length of 380 meters and crosses over Shugang Road. It is arranged in separate left and right carriageways, with a single carriageway width of 15.75 meters and a total bridge width of 34 meters. A total of 84 piles were completed in this construction, including 40 friction piles and 44 rock-socketed piles, with pile diameters ranging from 1.2 meters to 2.0 meters and an average pile length of 38 meters.
The bridge area is located in a fishpond and gully zone with complex geological conditions. Deep soft soil layers are distributed across the area, and the local maximum fill height reaches 11 meters. Drilling in the backfilled soil layer is highly prone to hole collapse, greatly increasing construction difficulty. To control pile quality from the source, the project first completed earthwork filling in the bridge area and carried out pile foundation construction only after the site foundation settlement tended to stabilize. At the same time, a long casing follow-up technique was specifically adopted to effectively eliminate the hidden risk of hole collapse in the backfill section and ensure stable and reliable pile formation.
The pile foundation construction period coincided with the overlapping rainy and flood seasons, with frequent regional rainfall. In addition, the terrain along the construction line is highly undulating, and temporary access roads intersect with existing village roads and farm roads in many places, making on-site safety control and coordination of traffic access for surrounding residents arduous tasks, with multiple adverse factors intertwined and superimposed. Facing various construction bottlenecks and difficulties, the project department used Party building to lead the construction攻坚 and gave full play to the vanguard and exemplary role of Party members in coordinating the overall construction deployment, precisely controlling key nodes at each stage, dynamically optimizing the allocation of manpower, machinery, and materials, and flexibly implementing day and night two-shift rotations for work teams and management personnel to maximize the exploitation and utilization of the limited effective construction period.
In the technical and quality control process, the project team strictly implemented standardized and refined construction management requirements. Before construction, it completed geological re-verification of the bridge area and review of the special construction plan, and organized all operating personnel to carry out full-coverage technical briefings. Throughout the construction process, it closely monitored core procedures such as hole formation, hole cleaning, rebar cage hoisting, and continuous concrete pouring, strictly controlled key technical indicators such as mud specific gravity, hole verticality, and concrete pouring continuity, refined the control rules for the entire process, and built a closed-loop quality management system covering the whole process to ensure that the physical quality of every pile foundation met the standards.
The construction of this project will shift the alignment of National Highway G325 westward, drive the development of western Jiangmen, divert transit traffic, improve traffic efficiency, give play to the function of the national highway trunk line, and strengthen the distribution role of the Pearl River West comprehensive transportation hub. After the project opens to traffic, it will become an important collection and distribution road for Heshan West Railway Station, help Heshan build a railway-highway intermodal transport system, strengthen the collection and distribution capacity of Heshan West Railway Station, provide safe, smooth, convenient, and efficient transport support for Heshan International Logistics Port, promote the rapid and healthy development of Heshan's society and economy, and contribute to the realization of Jiangmen's economic development goals.
