On June 17, the National Highway G228 Donggang Grand Bridge project achieved a key breakthrough in construction, as the first steel-concrete composite segment hoisting operation was successfully completed, pressing the "fast-forward button" for the bridge's subsequent construction.

At the site, multiple large pieces of machinery and equipment worked in coordinated linkage during the hoisting operation, with project management personnel supervising and controlling the entire process, and construction workers dividing tasks and collaborating to advance each procedure in an orderly manner.

It is understood that the steel-concrete composite segment hoisted this time is a core connecting component of the bridge, with a single segment weighing 83.875 tons. This construction procedure involves stringent precision control standards and a complex on-site working environment, compounded by difficulties such as the large self-weight of the component and high risks of high-altitude construction, making the overall hoisting operation extremely difficult.

"The component hoisted this time is massive in size, and high-altitude construction poses many challenges. In response to the complex working conditions of high-altitude hoisting of large-tonnage components, the project team planned and coordinated in advance, optimized and refined the special construction plan, implemented safety and technical briefings for all personnel, and comprehensively inspected and serviced construction machinery and equipment, ensuring the smooth completion of this hoisting operation through refined control measures," said Chen Ji, manager of the Engineering Department of Fuqing Communications Investment Group.

The successful hoisting and placement of the first steel-concrete composite segment not only serves as an effective test of the project's construction technical strength and on-site control capabilities, but also lays a solid dual foundation in both craftsmanship and practical operation for subsequent similar construction tasks such as steel box girder hoisting.

It is reported that the Donggang Grand Bridge starts at Qianhua Village, Jiangjing Town, crosses Donggang, and ends at Putou Village, Jiangyin Town. It is the longest sea-crossing bridge in Fujian Province on National Highway G228. The project route has a total length of 4.858 kilometers, a subgrade width of 28 meters, and an asphalt concrete pavement, built to Class I highway standards with a designed dual-direction six-lane configuration and a design speed of 60 kilometers per hour. The bridge's main span is 260 meters long, and the main piers are supported by a total of 36 pile foundations.

After the project is completed and put into use, it will further open up regional flows of people and logistics, build a half-hour transportation circle from Fuqing to Binhai New City, Fuzhou urban area, and Pingtan, connect towns and industrial parks along the route, and become the core transportation trunk line running north-south through Fuqing's municipal area.

"From early planning and preparation to on-site physical construction, the project has strictly adhered to the bottom line of engineering quality throughout and refined construction control across the entire process," Chen Ji stated. Next, the project department will firmly grasp the three core mainlines of safety production, engineering quality, and construction progress, steadily advance key node construction such as side-span closure and mid-span steel box girder closure segment hoisting, and strive to achieve the goal of opening the bridge to traffic as early as possible.
