As National Energy Conservation Promotion Week approaches, the Hechi Project Department of China Railway Sixth Group Tianjin Company, closely following the theme "A New Starting Point for Energy Conservation, A Low-Carbon Future," has leveraged intelligent technologies and refined management to develop a replicable and scalable green, low-carbon construction solution on the front lines of pile foundation work, demonstrating the responsibility of a central state-owned enterprise through concrete actions.

At the pile foundation construction site of the Gongtie Jointly-Built Grand Bridge, a controlling project of the Hechi Railway, the project department, faced with complex geological conditions, has integrated the concept of "energy saving and consumption reduction" into every process from the outset. In conventional construction, fluid-plastic silt layers and thick sand layers are highly prone to hole collapse, leading to the disposal of drilling mud and wasted resources. By adopting a high-quality mud circulation wall-protection process combined with graded drilling using D-type bits, the project has achieved on-site solid-liquid separation and recycling of mud, significantly reducing the volume of waste slurry and cutting carbon emissions from off-site disposal at the source.
To precisely control construction energy consumption, the project department has abandoned extensive operating practices and fully applied intelligent equipment. In the construction of CFG piles (cement-fly ash-gravel piles), the technical team has promoted a pile foundation information management system built around BeiDou positioning. This system replaces conventional manual setting-out and experience-based operation; by precisely controlling drill rod attitude and verticality, it not only improves pile quality but also, through "first-time excellence," eliminates the energy waste from repeated drilling caused by hole deviation and collapse. In addition, high-energy-consumption lighting has been phased out across the construction site, and sound-light sensing and LED energy-saving lighting systems have been installed in work areas, ensuring nighttime construction safety while eliminating ineffective lighting losses.
Beyond the construction front line, "micro-innovations" at the project camp also highlight the details of technology empowerment. Drawing on advanced energy-saving management experience in the industry, the project department has promoted "air-conditioner companion" smart control plugs and time-control devices in the temporary facilities area, achieving "shut down when people leave" and effectively reducing electricity costs in the living area. Meanwhile, the camp uses solar street lights and air-source water heaters to build a low-carbon living circle, tightening the energy-saving "cost valve" from the smallest details.
At present, in the opening year of the 15th Five-Year Plan, the state has explicitly proposed accelerating industrial "carbon reduction and green enhancement," deepening energy-saving and carbon-reduction upgrades in key industries, and vigorously developing green, low-carbon technologies and industries. As a vanguard in the infrastructure sector, the Hechi Project Department of China Railway Sixth Group Tianjin Company is taking pile foundation construction as its starting point and, through the deep integration of digital-intelligent technologies with traditional processes, continuously building a green construction system. This is not only a transformation of construction methods but also a vivid practice of a central state-owned enterprise fulfilling its mission of "energy saving and carbon reduction, green development" in building a country with strong transportation.
