As the core support for the capacity expansion and upgrading of the port cluster on the upper reaches of the Yangtze River, the Dajiaoshi Operation Area (Phase I) project of the Longjiang Port Zone of Luzhou Port broke ground in full in March. At present, the earthwork has been basically completed, the first-stage 240-meter island reclamation construction at the wharf front and all 165 bored pile foundations have "settled in," with cumulative investment of 388 million yuan, accounting for 71.9% of the annual plan and exceeding the scheduled progress by 22 percentage points.

"Before the main flood season arrived, we seized the window period and deployed an average of 12 sets of large equipment per day, completing the first-stage island reclamation and bored pile construction tasks to high standards," said Zhang Yang, project manager of Sichuan Luzhou Jiangbei Port Industrial Park Investment and Development Co., Ltd. He added that construction of the bored piles for Approach Bridges No. 1 and No. 2 is now being accelerated.

As Sichuan Province's first supporting port for a heavy equipment industrial park, the project is also the only key bulk and general cargo rail-water intermodal transport shore section in the Sichuan stretch of the Yangtze River mainline. Relying on a multimodal transport system integrating water, road, rail, air and postal services, and backed by the heavy equipment industrial park, it is planned as a comprehensive port combining green shipbuilding and LNG bunkering. Once completed, the project will add heavy-lift cargo transport functions to Luzhou Port and become one of Sichuan's most convenient corridors for heavy-lift cargo leaving the province.
