Looking northeast from the current terminal building of Zhengzhou Airport, one can see the construction site of the Phase II T2 terminal. Countless pile drivers stand like a forest, driving piles into the terminal foundation, while workers weld pile cages to reinforce the pile foundations.

According to reports, the Phase II project of Zhengzhou Xinzheng International Airport covers 8,587 mu and mainly includes a new second runway, the T2 terminal, a comprehensive transportation transfer center, cargo stations, air traffic control, fuel supply engineering and other infrastructure. The total construction area of the project is 897,000 square meters, with a total investment of 16.4153 billion yuan. It is currently the largest single-investment project in the province and also the core and foundational project for the construction of the Zhengzhou Airport Economy Zone. In the future, Phase III will also implement the T3 terminal and a third runway. In the long term, there will also be a T4 terminal and fourth and fifth runways.

From the plan view, the T1, T2 and T3 terminals enclose three sides of a rectangle, and between them is the comprehensive transportation transfer center that can achieve "zero transfer" for passengers.

A relevant person in charge of the office of the project construction leading group introduced that the three terminals and the transfer center are interconnected by concourses. The main body of the T2 terminal and the concourses are constructed simultaneously.

Five modes of transportation, four-level transfer, seamless connection

After the airport comprehensive transportation transfer center is completed, Zhengzhou Airport will become a modern comprehensive transportation hub achieving "zero-distance transfer" for passenger transport and "seamless connection" for freight transport. It will also become the second airport in the country, after Shanghai Hongqiao Airport, to effectively connect multiple modes of transportation such as intercity railways, expressways and high-speed railways.

The comprehensive transportation transfer center has two floors above ground and four floors underground. Among them, the fourth underground floor is the subway station, the third floor is the intercity light rail station, and the first and second floors are stops for public transportation and private cars. In other words, after getting off the plane, passengers can easily achieve "zero transfer" no matter which mode of transportation they choose.
