On the morning of the 7th, drilling began on the first pile foundation of the Laodao River Bridge of the G4 Beijing-Hong Kong-Macao Expressway Changsha-Zhuzhou Section Expansion Project in Yong'an Town, Liuyang City, marking that this key node of a provincial major transportation project has officially entered the main construction phase.

The Laodao River Bridge is a major and difficult controlling works of the G4 Beijing-Hong Kong-Macao Expressway Changsha-Zhuzhou Section Expansion Project. As an important node and host location of the project, once the bridge and the entire line are completed, they will directly enhance the outbound expressway capacity of northern Liuyang, enabling Yong'an Town to further integrate into the Changsha-Zhuzhou-Xiangtan "half-hour traffic circle."

The G4 Beijing-Hong Kong-Macao Expressway Changsha-Zhuzhou Section refers to the section from Guangfu in Changsha to Wangshiwan (Zhuting) in Zhuzhou. The expansion project of this section is a key construction project in Hunan Province's 14th Five-Year Plan for transportation construction, and is also Hunan Province's first newly built two-way 8-lane expressway. The project passes the west side of Dajing Scenic Area and the east side of Baiguan Garment Industrial Park, crosses the Lu River, continues south along the east bank of the Xiang River, passes through Gantian, Longmen and Longtan, and reconnects to the G4 Beijing-Hong Kong-Macao Expressway south of the G4 Zhuting Interchange, with a total route length of 144 kilometers. The project is built to the standard of an expressway with a design speed of 120 km/h, a subgrade width of 42 meters and two-way eight lanes, with 118 bridges totaling 50,546 meters and 1 mainline tunnel of 480 meters.

The project started construction in early 2025, with a total construction period of 4 years, and is scheduled to be completed and open to traffic in 2028. Upon completion, it will greatly improve the traffic capacity of China's main north-south transportation corridor, improve the expressway networks of the country and Hunan Province, and play an important role in strengthening transportation links in the core area of the Changsha-Zhuzhou-Xiangtan urban agglomeration.
