Recently, pile foundation drilling has begun for the main piers of the Zhaohe Grand Bridge on the Chaohu (Muji) to Feixi (Sanhe) section of the Tongshang Expressway, marking a key milestone in the project's construction.

The Zhaohe Grand Bridge has a total length of 2.157 kilometers. Its main span is a 215-meter steel box tied arch that crosses the embankments on both banks in a single span. The bridge deck adopts an orthotropic steel deck structure, the main piers are rectangular solid piers, and the pile caps connect to group pile foundations, with all piles being friction piles.

The Chaohu (Muji) to Feixi (Sanhe) section of the Tongshang Expressway starts at the Muji Interchange in Chaohu City, runs westward through Shengqiao Town, Baishan Town, and Tongda Town in Lujiang County, and ends north of Sanhe in Feixi County, where it connects with the South Ring Section of the Hefei Metropolitan Area Ring Expressway. The section is about 41.36 kilometers long, designed for a speed of 120 kilometers per hour, and built to a two-way six-lane standard along its entire length. The route includes three grand bridges in total; construction of the Hangbu River Grand Bridge and the Baishi Tianhe Grand Bridge has already started earlier.

The project is of great significance for improving Anhui Province's expressway network and strengthening the radiating and driving role of the Hefei metropolitan area for surrounding cities and counties. At the same time, it will create a new travel corridor in the Henan–Hefei–Zhejiang direction and play an important role in alleviating the traffic load on the Wuhu–Hefei Expressway, the Hefei–Lu'an–Yeji Expressway, and other routes.
