On January 30, the Second Bid Section undertaken by CCCC Second Harbor Engineering Co., Ltd. completed the construction of all 235 bored cast-in-place piles. The breakthrough at this key milestone created favorable conditions for the project to subsequently advance main structure construction during the dry season.

The pile foundations completed in this phase are located in the Wangcheng District section of Changsha, including 60 berthing dolphin piles, 169 water barrier wall piles, and 6 reinforcement section piles. These pile foundations are the core load-bearing foundations that ensure the future navigational safety and operational stability of the waterway, playing a vital supporting role for the overall project.

During construction, the project faced the dual challenges of a tight schedule and natural conditions. In particular, an unexpected rise in the Xiangjiang River water level submerged the temporary work platforms, further reducing effective construction time. To address this, the project team fully concentrated on catching up with the schedule by increasing resource input, deploying large equipment, and implementing shift work, ensuring that the construction milestones were completed on time.

In addition, the geological conditions along the project route are complex. To address difficulties such as high rock surfaces, deep rock socketing, and the tendency for hole collapse in sand and gravel strata, the project team applied the "combined construction method of rotary drilling rig and percussion drill at the same pile position," together with special mud, effectively solving the traditional problems of low drilling efficiency and high hole-forming risk in complex strata. This new technique greatly improved hole-forming speed and quality, providing technical support for completing key processes within the limited construction period and accumulating valuable experience for pile foundation construction under similar geological conditions.

It is understood that once the Great Wall Waterway project is completed, it will significantly enhance the navigability and shipping resilience of the middle and lower reaches of the Xiangjiang River, break the navigation bottleneck during the dry season, and have strategic significance for optimizing the province's transport structure, promoting the shift from road to water transport, and advancing the integrated development of the Changsha-Zhuzhou-Xiangtan metropolitan area and the Yangtze River Economic Belt.
