On January 27th, in the depth of the twelfth lunar month, the construction site of the Anhui S20 Expressway remained bustling with activity. On the several-kilometer-wide surface of Chengtou West Lake in Huoqiu County, rows of pile foundations and piers rose from the ground, standing in line from east to west.

Currently, 1,474 of the total 1,518 pile foundations and 1,330 of the total 1,414 piers have been completed; the first continuous cast-in-place girder has been poured, and the launching gantry on the east bank of the grand bridge has begun erecting girders. Although the Spring Festival is approaching, the project is still pushing toward its construction milestones while ensuring safety and quality. Construction of the pile foundations and substructure in the lake is accelerating toward the west bank, with efforts to complete the work before the Spring Festival.

The S20 Changfeng–Gushi Expressway Huoqiu–Anhui-Henan Border Section project is an east-west densification line planned in the Anhui Provincial Expressway Network Plan (2020-2035). It is another rapid corridor between the "Horizontal Line 3" Nanjing–Luoyang and the "Horizontal Line 4" Nanjing–Zhumadian routes. With a total length of 56.692 km and a design speed of 120 km/h, it is being built to a two-way, four-lane expressway standard. Once completed, the project will improve the regional expressway network layout and is of great significance for enhancing east-west connectivity among Jiangsu, Anhui, and Henan.
