In the depths of winter, temperatures on the Loess Plateau of northern Shaanxi plummet to more than minus twenty degrees Celsius, with biting winds and barren trees. Yet, among the rolling hills of Ansai District and Zhidan County in Yan'an, the construction sites for the pile foundation projects of two large-scale wind power projects, undertaken by the Geotechnical Foundation Engineering Company of Shaanxi Construction Engineering Group No.8 Construction Engineering Group, are bustling with intense activity. Facing numerous severe challenges, the project team remains on the front line, using technological innovation and meticulous management to lay a solid first "cornerstone" for the future of green energy.

The Yan'an Ansai 100 MW Wind Power Project and the Zhidan Affordable Wind Power Project are key projects driving the regional transition to green energy. As the core that bears the entire weight and safety of the wind turbines, the quality of the pile foundation engineering directly relates to the stable operation of the projects for decades to come.
Faced with the inherent difficulties of winter construction—low temperatures, changeable weather, and difficult mountain road access—the project management team acted promptly, planning and deploying in advance, and with the core goals of "ensuring quality, racing against time for progress, and safeguarding safety," they launched a full-scale winter construction campaign.
The project management team established a rigorous safety and quality management system, conducting daily risk classification control and hazard inspections, and carrying out comprehensive patrols of construction machinery, insulation facilities, and power supply lines to ensure no oversights. In the biting cold wind, project managers travel daily between the machine positions in the mountains, commanding from the front, while technical backbone staff are stationed on-site to oversee the entire process, and operators stand guard in accordance with regulations, scientifically coordinating rotary drilling rigs, cranes, concrete mixer trucks, and other equipment, weaving together the most stirring picture of endeavor in winter.
From survey and setting out, drilling and hole cleaning, to rebar cage installation, concrete pouring and curing, every procedure strictly follows specifications, and every step embodies the team's professionalism and dedication, laying an unshakable foundation for the safe operation of the wind turbines in the future.
The Yan'an Ansai 100 MW Wind Power Project is located in Ansai District, Yan'an City, about 15 km from the urban area, with a planned capacity of 100 MW. The annual on-grid electricity generation of this project is approximately 239.88 million kWh. It includes 16 turbine positions, with a total of 18,199.5 meters of cast-in-place piles.
The Zhidan Affordable Wind Power Project is located in Zhidan County, Yan'an City, with a total installed capacity of 100 MW. The main body consists of 16 wind turbines with a unit capacity of 5.5 MW and 2 with 6.0 MW, along with supporting works, totaling 18 turbine positions, with a total of 22,737 meters of cast-in-place piles.
After these two wind power projects are completed and put into operation, the total installed capacity will reach 200 MW, with an estimated annual on-grid electricity generation of about 480 million kWh. By then, they will continuously supply clean electricity to the local area, significantly optimize the regional energy structure, substantially reduce carbon emissions, and inject strong and lasting momentum into the green and low-carbon development of the Yan'an region.
Up to now, this winter construction campaign has achieved key phased victories: the pile foundation engineering of the Yan'an Ansai 100 MW Wind Power Project has completed high-quality cast-in-place pile pouring for 8 turbine positions, and the pile foundation engineering of the Zhidan Affordable Wind Power Project has completed cast-in-place pile pouring for 3 turbine positions. After rigorous testing, all key indicators of the completed piles perfectly meet the design standards.
