China's wind power industry has achieved remarkable results, yet the challenges along the way cannot be ignored. On the one hand, the scaling-up of wind power equipment places higher demands on the precision and automation level of manufacturing processes; on the other hand, as wind power development continues to push into "no-man's lands" such as plateaus, deep seas, and the Gobi Desert, the traditional manual operation and maintenance model also faces multiple pressures in terms of efficiency, safety, and accessibility.

Against this backdrop, SANY Renewable Energy has taken the lead in breaking through, achieving the world's first real-world application of humanoid robots in wind power equipment manufacturing scenarios, and was featured in a special report on CCTV Finance Channel's "2025 China Economic Annual Report." CCTV reporters went deep into SANY Renewable Energy's intelligent manufacturing plant for complete wind turbines to explore on site how it leverages the deep integration of "Artificial Intelligence (AI) + scenarios" to drive the application of full-size industrial humanoid robots across multiple scenarios.
At the intelligent sorting and greasing workstation in the plant, two full-size industrial humanoid robots standing 1.76 meters tall independently complete a series of complex processes—bolt sorting, greasing, and handling—with millimeter-level precision through visual recognition, adaptive grasping, and collaborative operation. This not only frees workers from repetitive, high-load labor but also significantly improves the precision and consistency of the assembly process. At the same time, through "real-world" factory practice and online simulation training, the humanoid robots continuously optimize their operational capabilities and achieve self-evolution.
Following the CCTV lens, one can see that from the intelligent factory to future wind farms, SANY Renewable Energy is pioneering the industry's "no-man's lands" with cutting-edge technology. The successful deployment of humanoid robots not only verifies their reliability and evolutionary potential in complex industrial environments, but also lays a key foundation for SANY Renewable Energy's layout of intelligent operation and maintenance in extreme environments such as offshore wind power. In scenarios such as high altitudes, strong winds, and deep seas where manual continuous operation is difficult, humanoid robots, with their human-like operation and strong environmental adaptability, are expected to become the "digital craftsmen" of future wind farm inspection and maintenance.
SANY Renewable Energy will continue to take the lead in exploring collaborative innovation between humanoid robots and new energy equipment, forging future-oriented new quality productive forces for the industry.
In Changping, Beijing, multiple intelligent equipment units are in operation in the workshop of China's first 5G fully-connected flexible intelligent manufacturing plant for wind power. More than three months ago, two "new colleagues" arrived here.
Xing Tengfei, Director of the Intelligent Manufacturing Institute at SANY Renewable Energy's Process Academy: This is the first time we have opened up (the humanoid robots) to the media. In the newly built intelligent sorting and greasing workstation on site, two full-size industrial humanoid robots, each 1.76 meters tall with 52 degrees of freedom across the body, are dividing work and collaborating to complete tasks autonomously. One robot removes the protective caps from bolts one by one, sorts and grasps them, and places them onto the conveyor belt; after processing, the other robot receives a signal, lifts a full tray of bolts onto the adjacent material rack, and then returns the empty tray to its original position.
Xing Tengfei, Director of the Intelligent Manufacturing Institute at SANY Renewable Energy's Process Academy: Through visual recognition, the robot scores all the bolts in front of it (for grasping difficulty), first nudging them into a position more favorable for its hand to grasp, and then grasping them. The motion precision can reach 3-5 millimeters.
These motions may seem simple, but enabling the robot to perform them repeatedly with a high success rate is actually no easy task.
Xing Tengfei, Director of the Intelligent Manufacturing Institute at SANY Renewable Energy's Process Academy: At the very beginning, the robot's fingers were made entirely of a rigid plastic material, which made slipping off very likely. Later, through improvements, the robot's grasping success rate was raised to over 95%.
Xiong Jingchuang, Head of Humanoid Robot Delivery at UBTECH: The environmental information in a factory is quite complex. After scanning the data, we build a 1:1 simulation platform and continuously optimize and debug (the robots). We have already taken the first step of bringing our humanoid robots into the factory.
Today, robots are increasingly appearing in fields such as industrial manufacturing, energy inspection, safety and emergency response, and commercial services; in the future, scenarios such as deep seas, the Gobi Desert, and polar regions that are beyond human reach are even more likely to become the places where robots are put to use.
Xing Tengfei, Director of the Intelligent Manufacturing Institute at SANY Renewable Energy's Process Academy: Wind turbine operation scenarios are generally in the Gobi Desert, in environments with strong winds and harsh conditions. (If) the application of humanoid robots matures, we can later use them conveniently on the wind farm operation and maintenance side.
