At the construction site in Nantong Town, Minhou County, large piling equipment roared into operation as workers operated the machinery to drive each trestle pile foundation steadily into the riverbed.

As a control project of the Shuangfu Expressway, the Wenshanzhou Grand Bridge starts at Tianshui Village, Cangshan, connects the Third Ring Road with Wenshan Village, Nantong, Minhou, and ends at the Wenshan Interchange, linking up with the Fuyin Expressway. The bridge has a total length of 3,049.5 meters, with its main span designed as a 252-meter variable cross-section hybrid girder continuous rigid-frame bridge spanning the Minjiang South Channel navigation route. The total construction length of the line reaches 8.54 kilometers.

The temporary trestle of the bridge has a total engineering volume of 2.7 kilometers, of which 1.7 kilometers has been successfully completed. According to the construction plan, pile foundation drilling will be carried out this month. After drilling begins, the main works will be advanced in an all-round way, including the construction of pile foundations, pile caps, pier columns and bent caps. At present, all temporary land use for the Shuangfu Expressway within Minhou County has been approved, and the advance land use has also been approved by the Ministry of Natural Resources. Meanwhile, the Xiangbishan Tunnel and Xitai Tunnel, control projects of the Shuangfu Expressway, are about to start construction.

The completion of the Shuangfu Expressway will further optimize the expressway network structure of Fujian Province, strengthen traffic links between Minhou and surrounding areas, promote the efficient flow of people, goods and information between regions, powerfully drive the economic development of areas along the route, and inject new momentum into accelerating integration into the main urban area and building a new Minhou.
