On January 14, the reconstruction project of the Taoyuan-Zhishan section of National Highway G325 in Heshan City got off to a steady start, with all construction tasks in the advance bid section proceeding in an orderly manner; the first bid section has fully entered substantive construction, various types of engineering equipment have successively moved in for operations, and the site presents a busy construction scene.

The reconstruction project of the Taoyuan-Zhishan section of National Highway G325 has a total length of 33.921 km and is jointly constructed by China Railway Construction Engineering Group Co., Ltd. and Heshan Pacific Construction Co., Ltd. The entire line includes 1 extra-large bridge (including interchange bridges) of 1,110.4 m, 11 large bridges of 4,420.8 m, 6 medium and small bridges of 455.2 m, and 89 culverts. It is designed as a Class I highway with dual six-lane carriageways, a speed of 80 km/h, and an asphalt concrete pavement structure. Among them, the advance bid section and the first bid section that have started construction total 8.4 kilometers.
As a key trunk highway project in Heshan City's comprehensive transportation system development plans for the 14th Five-Year Plan and 15th Five-Year Plan periods, the reconstruction project of the Taoyuan-Zhishan section of National Highway G325 carries the important mission of regional transportation upgrading and coordinated industrial development. The project route runs through Taoyuan, Longkou, Hecheng, Zhishan and other towns, connecting industrial parks, urban nodes and transportation hubs along the line, and is a core component of the innovation industry corridor in Heshan's "Three Rings and Six Corridors" trunk road network. The project focuses on enhancing the road network's carrying capacity and optimizing transportation service efficiency. Once completed, it will further improve the regional trunk road network structure and build an efficient logistics channel for key industrial clusters such as silicon energy along the line.
At present, the advance bid section of the project has successfully completed the core foundation work for the bridge substructure. All 104 bridge pile foundations of the Xinhuancun Overpass Bridge in the advance bid section have been completed, and 56 pier columns of the substructure have been constructed, accounting for 78% of the bridge's total of 72 pier columns, with progress advancing steadily as planned. At the same time, after completing preparatory work such as preliminary survey and design and optimization of construction organization plans, the first bid section has officially entered the comprehensive construction stage: about 110,000 square meters of clearing has been completed, 4.6 km of construction access roads has been completed, and 45,000 cubic meters of earthwork excavation has been completed. Builders are seizing favorable construction windows, focusing on project quality and safety, and making every effort to advance project construction.
From a strategic positioning perspective, the project is an important vehicle for Heshan to consolidate its industry-city connectivity channels and serve Jiangmen City's "Eight Towns Joint Development" initiative. Its construction will not only effectively break regional transportation bottlenecks and shorten the spatial and temporal distance between the north and south twin cities and industrial platforms such as the Sino-European (Jiangmen) Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises International Cooperation Zone (Heshan Area), but will also strengthen coordination between highway transportation and railways and ports, providing strong support for the development of multimodal transport. As an important transportation artery connecting Guangzhou-Foshan and linking the western Pearl River, the project will further activate Heshan's locational advantages of "connecting Guangzhou-Shenzhen to the north and Jiangmen-Zhuhai to the south," facilitate the efficient flow of regional industrial factors, and inject transportation momentum into the development of the real economy.
Looking ahead, once completed, the project will significantly improve the national highway's traffic efficiency and safety resilience, further reduce commuting times for towns (subdistricts) along the line, and make travel more convenient and efficient for urban and rural residents. At the same time, the project will deeply integrate into the transportation integration pattern of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, strengthen Heshan's rapid connectivity with core cities in the Greater Bay Area, build a solid transportation foundation for Heshan to become a typical county under the province's "Hundred Counties, Thousand Towns, Ten Thousand Villages Project" and strive to be a pacesetter in high-quality county development in Guangdong, and provide solid support for strengthening the hub node functions on the west bank of the Pearl River and for coordinated regional development.
