The Pingwu Expressway has a total length of about 42.8 kilometers (6.485 kilometers in the provincial network section and 36.348 kilometers in the national network section), with a design speed of 100 kilometers per hour. It features 5 interchanges, 4 entrances and exits, and 1 service area. Its starting point connects with the Jinan-Guangzhou Expressway, and its endpoint links to the planned Chaonan Expressway Wuping (Guangdong-Fujian border) to Changting Guanqian section in Fujian. It is an important out-of-province corridor at the Guangdong-Fujian border. The project's advance works started construction on July 30 this year. At present, the temporary facilities have passed acceptance, and the Gaofengtan Grand Bridge has completed the construction of 24 pile foundations. Once completed, the project will optimize the regional road network layout and is of great significance for the former Central Soviet Area in Jiangxi, Fujian, and Guangdong to "integrate into the Greater Bay Area and connect to the sea" and to build a pioneering zone for revitalization and development.

The Pingwu project consistently strengthens safety and resilience by improving survey accuracy and design depth. Aligning with the Ministry of Transport's special plans, the project team tackles key and difficult issues: it uses digital surveying to overcome mountainous geological challenges, implements the concept of dual route selection based on geology and safety, and strengthens the comparison and selection of structural schemes; it carries out refined design for work sites such as bridges, tunnels, and high slopes, implementing measures such as "one drawing per slope," comprehensive drainage, and integrated construction-management-maintenance; it brings in professional units to conduct geological hazard assessments and relies on scientific research to overcome key technical challenges, comprehensively enhancing the project's disaster prevention and mitigation capabilities and safety resilience. The approval of the construction drawing design has laid a solid foundation for the project to subsequently pass approval and for the full line to start construction as soon as possible.
