The Swedish Government has received a report that analyzes alternative approaches to the organization and implementation of the national transport infrastructure. The purpose of this study is to create the conditions for improving efficiency and accelerating the implementation of infrastructure investments.

"The Swedish Government is investing heavily in transport infrastructure, and the purpose of this study is to explore alternative approaches to the organization and implementation of infrastructure projects. Today I received Claes Norrgren's report, and we will urgently analyze his proposals at the Government Offices," said Minister for Infrastructure and Housing Andreas Carlson.

In the infrastructure bill, the Swedish Government assesses that alternative financing solutions for transport infrastructure should be tested, provided that these solutions can lead to faster or more cost-effective implementation, or can enable more projects to be completed within a given period than would otherwise be possible.

The Swedish Government also assesses that, in the upcoming planning period, investment projects should be implemented that are designed and built by bodies other than the Swedish Transport Administration, for example through public-private partnerships (PPP) or in corporate form.

The report received by the Swedish Government recommends the establishment of a state-owned company responsible for implementing road and rail projects. The report also recommends that infrastructure projects be implemented through public-private partnerships (PPP) if analysis shows that this model is suitable for a specific project.

The study's recommendations will undergo further analysis and study at the Government Offices.
