Recently, in expanding its presence in the pumped-storage hydropower station construction market, Sinohydro Bureau 16 Co., Ltd. won the bid to construct the lower reservoir project of the Guangdong Luhe Pumped-Storage Hydropower Station, relying on its comprehensive strength.

The Luhe Pumped-Storage Hydropower Station is located in Jishixi Village, Xintian Town, Luhe County, Shanwei City, Guangdong Province. It is a Class I large (1) project with a total installed capacity of 1,400 MW, equipped with four reversible pump-turbine generator units each with a unit capacity of 350 MW.

The lower reservoir project undertaken by Sinohydro Bureau 16 is a core component of the station. The reservoir has a catchment area of 15.30 square kilometers (excluding the upper reservoir), a normal storage level of 232 meters with a corresponding storage capacity of 9.53 million cubic meters, and a dead water level of 193 meters with a corresponding storage capacity of 1.055 million cubic meters. Once completed, the lower reservoir project will operate in coordination with the upper reservoir, providing key support for the station's overall function.

Once completed, the Guangdong Luhe Pumped-Storage Hydropower Station will effectively enhance the Guangdong power grid's capacity to absorb new energy sources such as wind and photovoltaic power, and will provide important regulation support for coastal nuclear power, offshore wind power, and cross-regional power transmission. It is of great significance for ensuring the safe and stable operation of Guangdong's power system and serving the realization of the national "dual carbon" goals.
