On November 8, the underground powerhouse of the electromechanical equipment installation project for the State Grid Xinyuan Xinjiang Hami Pumped Storage Power Station, constructed by Sinohydro Bureau 16 Co., Ltd., officially commenced construction, laying a solid foundation for subsequent key processes such as embedded pouring of the main powerhouse, equipment hoisting, and pipeline laying.

At the commencement ceremony, a representative of Sinohydro Bureau 16 stated that the project department will make comprehensive efforts in three aspects: ensuring project progress, strengthening process control, and deepening collaborative coordination. They will overcome difficulties, work diligently, and go all out to build the Hami Pumped Storage Power Station into a high-quality, premium project, delivering a satisfactory result to the owner and the people of Xinjiang.

As a vivid practice of Xinjiang's implementation of the "dual carbon" goals, the Xinjiang Hami Pumped Storage Power Station has a total installed capacity of 1,200 megawatts. Upon completion, it will generate approximately 1.368 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity annually, save about 239,000 tons of raw coal per year, and reduce carbon dioxide emissions by 596,000 tons, making it a truly green "engine." At the same time, it is also a "major energy storage asset" for the new energy system in the eastern Xinjiang region, functioning like a giant "power bank" that can effectively smooth out fluctuations in wind and photovoltaic power, greatly enhance the grid's capacity to absorb new energy, and serve as a "stabilizer" for the power grid. Ultimately, it will act as a strategic "pivot," feeding electricity into the Xinjiang and Northwest China power grids, strongly supporting the "West-East Power Transmission" initiative and the construction of a new-type power system, and providing solid guarantees for national energy security.
