In this issue we visit the Duobu Hydropower Station
Duobu Hydropower Station Duobu Hydropower Station is located on the main stream of the Niyang River in Nyingchi City, Tibet Autonomous Region Panoramic view of the power station The dam crest elevation of the power station is 3079 meters Cutoff wall construction Dam closure alleviating the pressure of electricity consumption for industry and livelihood in central Tibet
It mainly consists of a barrage dam, water diversion and power generation system, flood discharge structures
powerhouse buildings and other components
The main task of the project is, on the basis of protecting the ecological environment
to focus on power generation while also taking irrigation into account
adopting a gate-dam development scheme
The normal storage water level of the reservoir is 3076 meters
The power station has a total installed capacity of 120 megawatts
The designed annual power generation is 506 million kilowatt-hours
It is a key project in the "12th Five-Year Plan" energy development plan of the Tibet Autonomous Region
It is a controlling project for the comprehensive management and protection of the Niyang River
Sinohydro Foundation Engineering Bureau undertook the cutoff wall of the Phase I longitudinal cofferdam of the power station
foundation seepage control and gravel dam works
the Jiuba land reclamation project on the left bank of the reservoir area
and the civil works and metal structure installation works of the fishway
Building a dam on deep overburden
foundation treatment work involves high risks and great difficulties
Sinohydro Foundation Engineering Bureau overcame numerous difficulties
and in December 2014 the hydropower station was successfully closed off
In April 2015 the cutoff wall of the Phase II upstream cofferdam was completed
The first unit generated power in August 2015
Since the power station was put into operation in 2015
it has played a key role in the region's energy supply, ecological protection, flood control and disaster reduction
social development and other aspects
supplying 500 million kWh of electricity annually
The fishway plus stock enhancement maintains the biodiversity of the Niyang River
It has been listed as a priority project for comprehensive management
Together with the Xueka and Laohuzui hydropower stations, it forms the Niyang River-Ba River energy corridor
promoting the construction of Tibet's clean energy base
