On September 11, the Zarafshan Wind Power EPC Project in Uzbekistan undertaken by SEPCOIII Electric Power Construction Corporation duly received the COD certificate and PAC confirmation letter issued by the owner, marking the project's smooth entry into commercial operation and completion of provisional handover, making it the first wind power project in the country to formally complete handover.
The Zarafshan Wind Power EPC Project in Uzbekistan is the first large-scale wind power project in Uzbekistan and currently the largest single-unit wind power project put into operation in Central Asia, with a total installed capacity of 521.7 MW. Once completed, the project will not only provide sufficient electricity for 500,000 households, but also save 1.1 million tons of carbon dioxide emissions annually, making a positive contribution to Uzbekistan's energy transition and sustainable economic development goals.
Uzbekistan President Mirziyoyev stated that the Zarafshan Wind Power Project is the first wind power project implemented after Uzbekistan's new energy reform, and is of great significance for the country in achieving energy diversification, promoting the development of renewable energy, and improving environmental quality. Uzbek Prime Minister Aripov has inspected the project site on multiple occasions, highly praising the project's efficient execution, the reliability and intelligence of Chinese equipment, and China's high-quality construction technology.
During construction, the project created more than 1,000 jobs for the local community and cultivated a group of wind power professionals. At the same time, all wind turbines of the project are Chinese equipment, adopting direct-drive permanent magnet units with the technical advantages of low failure rates and convenient maintenance; all wind turbines are equipped with bird-deterrent devices that can automatically identify birds and automatically shut down, protecting the ecological environment while safeguarding equipment safety.
