At midnight on September 10, Unit 6 (the final unit) of the State Grid Xinyuan Zhejiang Jinyun Pumped-Storage Power Station officially began its 15-day assessment trial operation, marking that this important energy hub in East China is about to complete its annual construction goal of "five units commissioned in one year."

As a key project in the National Energy Administration's 13th Five-Year Plan and the core project of Zhejiang's "East China Green Energy Base," the State Grid Xinyuan Jinyun Power Station has a total installed capacity of 1.8 million kilowatts and is equipped with six 300,000-kilowatt reversible pump-turbine generator-motor units. Since the first unit was put into operation in November 2024, the builders of the Third Bureau of China Hydropower have achieved an industry-leading pace of "commissioning one unit in less than two months on average." Units 2, 3, 4, and 5 were successively put into operation in 2025, and the trial operation of Unit 6 will ultimately fulfill the established goal of commissioning five units within the year.

Facing the high-intensity construction task of "five units commissioned in one year," the project department formed a Party member and youth task force and implemented a "two-shift" work mode, achieving "zero delay" in key links such as unit stator hoisting and rotor assembly. Among them, the electrical testing laboratory, as the "core checkpoint" ensuring the safe grid connection of units, undertakes调试 tasks of paramount importance — team members have completed more than 300 electrical tests, performed hundreds of calibrations of key parameters such as stator DC resistance and stator AC withstand voltage, and innovatively adopted a parallel operation mode of "testing while installing." Under the premise of ensuring safety and quality, they simultaneously carried out partial commissioning and full-unit start-up trial operation for two units, greatly shortening the testing cycle and laying a solid foundation for the on-schedule commissioning of subsequent units.

The project department has always adhered to the concept of efficiency and innovation, continuously setting new project progress records. For Unit 1, the entire process from handover of the work face to pouring to the generator floor took only 9.5 months, setting a construction record; at present, on average, a unit is commissioned in less than two months, and the construction speed has reached the leading level of installed capacity in the national pumped-storage industry.

After the State Grid Xinyuan Jinyun Pumped-Storage Power Station is fully put into operation, its annual power generation will reach 1.8 billion kilowatt-hours, saving about 230,000 tons of standard coal and reducing carbon dioxide emissions by about 460,000 tons. As the "stabilizer" of the East China power grid, its peak-shaving and valley-filling capacity will significantly enhance the region's capacity to absorb clean energy, providing core support for Zhejiang to build the "East China Pumped-Storage Base" and achieve the "dual carbon" goals. According to the plan, Unit 6 will complete trial operation and be commissioned by the end of September, at which time the entire station will operate at full load, successfully achieving the construction goal of "five units commissioned in one year" and laying a solid foundation for further building the pumped-storage brand of the Third Bureau of China Hydropower.
