On July 13, the Xinjiang Ring Tarim Basin 750 kV Power Transmission and Transformation Project was fully connected, and China's largest 750 kV extra-high-voltage ring network project officially "closed the loop" after 15 years of construction. Over the course of these 15 years, high-end equipment from Zoomlion, including cranes and concrete pump trucks, provided solid support for project construction and efficiently contributed to the building of this power "giant dragon."

The Xinjiang Ring Tarim Basin 750 kV Power Transmission and Transformation Project consists of nine 750 kV power transmission and transformation projects and began construction in 2010. Most of the ring network was built along the Taklamakan Desert, known as the "Sea of Death." How difficult is it to erect a steel tower in the desert?
Natural weather and geographical conditions have always posed enormous challenges to the stringing of project conductors. Because the desert is highly mobile, the excavation of tower foundations has a low success rate of reaching the required shape, so sandbags and sand-blocking boards had to be used quickly for support while digging, followed by rapid pouring. In this process, the high efficiency and high reliability of Zoomlion concrete pump trucks played an important role. In particular, the one-key control function equipped on Zoomlion concrete pump trucks greatly improved the efficiency of operators in controlling the boom, and the application of technologies such as active boom vibration reduction made operation not only stable but also very safe.

At the same time, the terrain and landforms at the construction site are complex, with loose geology and strong windblown sand. In summer, temperatures in the Taklamakan Desert rise to 40°C, and the ground surface temperature can even exceed 50°C. All of this places higher demands on the adaptability of equipment to working conditions. Dozens of Zoomlion engineering cranes in different project sections all relied on excellent lifting performance, outstanding stability, and convenient operation and assembly/disassembly to strongly guarantee project construction progress and win high praise from the project owner.

The total line length of the Xinjiang Ring Tarim Basin 750 kV Power Transmission and Transformation Project is 4,197 kilometers, drawing a circle around the Tarim Basin. Once completed, the area covered by the extended power grid will reach 1.06 million square kilometers, nearly one-ninth of China's land area, making it China's largest 750 kV extra-high-voltage transmission ring network. As construction steadily advances, the project is planned to be completed and put into operation in November 2025, and Zoomlion's high-end equipment will continue to provide solid support for the subsequent construction of the project.
