On July 9, the second TBM for Section 8 of the Yinjiangbuhan (Yangtze-to-Han River Water Diversion) Project of Sinohydro Bureau 14, "Jianghan Wudang," successfully rolled off the production line in Changsha, Hunan, marking a new stage in mechanized construction for the Yinjiangbuhan Project.

The Yinjiangbuhan Project runs through complex geological conditions and faces great construction difficulties, featuring technical characteristics such as large burial depth, long alignment, and large tunnel diameter, as well as geological challenges including "high in-situ stress, high water pressure, high rock strength, numerous faults, and abundant groundwater." Among China's long-distance pressurized water diversion tunnels, it is a project with an exceptionally long single-tube length, exceptionally large tunnel diameter, and exceptionally high overall difficulty. A total of 10 hard rock TBMs have been deployed across the entire line, with a total boring length of 123 kilometers.

"Jianghan Wudang" is an open-type dual-structure TBM with an excavation diameter of 11.93 meters, an overall length of about 185 meters, a main machine length of about 32 meters, a minimum turning radius of 800 meters, and adaptability to a maximum gradient of ±10%. The equipment is equipped with an advance drilling rig and an advance support system, enabling functions such as precise geological forecasting and torque multiplication for getting out of jams. The cutterhead can readily handle different geological conditions, with a maximum boring speed of up to 80 mm/min, significantly improving construction efficiency.

Once put into use, this equipment will work together with the "Jianghan Long'an" TBM to provide strong momentum for the Yinjiangbuhan Project.
