Recently, Caterpillar Inc. announced that it will invest in the key force behind its success and long-term development for the next hundred years: talent. As part of the company's centennial celebration, Caterpillar has committed $100 million over the next five years to help the future workforce acquire the necessary skills to leverage technology to meet the demands of global markets amid the world's rapid digital transformation.

By working together, we can make a world where individuals have the skills and resources they need to leap forward a reality."

According to the Future of Jobs Report 2025, the skills required to succeed in the global labor market are expected to undergo profound changes over the next five years. This transformation will generate 170 million new jobs. These technology-driven skills include artificial intelligence (AI), automation, data analytics, digital twins, the Internet of Things (IoT), machine language, augmented reality, computer-aided design and modeling, robotics maintenance, and soft skills.

Caterpillar Chief Technology Officer Jaime Mineart is the initiator of this investment. She said:

Caterpillar's first investment of this kind demonstrates our efforts to collaborate with global partners to create the best talent development solutions."

This investment builds on Caterpillar's existing programs aimed at closing the growing skills gap in manufacturing, including:

ThinkBIG: a two-year paid training program for students to help them grow into technicians.

STEM outreach programs: introducing students at the basic education stage to the different careers in manufacturing.

Caterpillar Global Dealer Technician Challenge: this event showcases how experienced technicians can pursue high-tech, high-impact, and high-demand careers. The challenge aims to raise public awareness of career development opportunities for technicians.

Centennial Celebration

This year, Caterpillar will hold celebrations around the world through a centennial world tour, reviewing its glorious history and looking forward to a bright future.

In addition to Caterpillar's $100 million investment, the Caterpillar Foundation, the company's philanthropic organization, will also make charitable donations to local nonprofit organizations at each stop of the global tour, continuing the Foundation's far-reaching impact on community development and sustainable development.
