On June 6, good news came from Qingyuan! The Guangdong Provincial Key Laboratory of Tunnel Engineering Safety and Emergency Support Technology and Equipment, led by Guangdong Transportation Group, dominated by Hualu Technology, and jointly built with Litong Technology, has successfully passed the acceptance by the Provincial Department of Science and Technology, marking the official completion of this provincial-level key laboratory.

    This laboratory is a provincial-level science and technology innovation platform key supported by the Provincial Department of Science and Technology in 2022, and is also one of the pilot tasks of "Transportation Power" in Guangdong. Relying on the country's first long-term safety physical test site for tunnel engineering with integrated construction, management, and maintenance test functions (total length 579 meters), focusing on the full-cycle safety of tunnel construction, management, and maintenance, the laboratory has continuously tackled key problems in four major directions: tunnel operation safety, disaster prevention and control, long-term safety of civil structures, and reconstruction and expansion technology, and has delivered a remarkable report card: 29 authorized patents, 35 journal papers published, 12 local and enterprise technical standards led or participated in formulation, and 11 provincial and various industry association science and technology progress awards.

    In terms of technological innovation, the laboratory has achieved a series of breakthrough results: established a big data-based safety assessment and early warning system and key emergency support technologies for high-traffic highway tunnel operations, achieving dynamic assessment of highway tunnel safety risks; built the province's first intelligent fire control platform for operating highway tunnels, achieving three-dimensional visualization of all-element risk sources in tunnels; overcame the key technologies of the entire chain of tunnel water disaster formation mechanism, detection, and treatment under extreme rainfall conditions; developed green flame-retardant pavement materials for highway tunnels and their post-disaster repair technologies and equipment, etc.

    These innovative results have been successfully applied in key projects such as the Shenzhen-Zhongshan Link, Xinbo Expressway, Huiqing Expressway, Guangshao Expressway, and Shaogan Expressway, providing strong support for improving the safety level of tunnel engineering in our province.

    At the acceptance meeting, the expert group composed of leaders from the Guangdong Provincial Department of Science and Technology, the Department of Transportation, and authoritative industry experts, through listening to reports, on-site inspections, and reviewing materials, highly praised the laboratory's construction achievements and unanimously agreed to pass the acceptance. The expert group particularly pointed out that the laboratory's research direction is closely aligned with industry needs, and the scientific research results are highly practical and have important promotion and application value.

    The representative of the Provincial Department of Transportation pointed out that tunnels, as core nodes of highways, are crucial for safety. It is hoped that the construction unit will fully absorb the experts' suggestions, anchor the long-term goal of improving tunnel emergency support capabilities, strengthen scientific research, and accelerate the transformation and application of results. The Provincial Department of Transportation will continue to support the construction and operation of the laboratory.
