It is reported that HD Hyundai Construction Equipment has continuously advanced the "Advancedization Project" of its Ulsan plant since 2023, carrying out intelligent equipment upgrades and production capacity expansion, with an investment of approximately KRW 200 billion.

The smart factory merges the original Plant 1 and Plant 2 into one, with a total area of 234,710㎡. Through production line expansion and reorganization, the construction of a quality assurance center and warehousing building, and the construction of a new office building, the Ulsan plant has been transformed into a smart factory.

HD Hyundai Construction Equipment has unified its production and logistics lines through an integrated factory system and introduced a real-time product location tracking system, optimizing the production process and greatly improving production efficiency.

In addition, welding robots and vision sensors have been used on the pipe fittings production line to improve productivity and quality consistency, and automated guided vehicles (AGVs) and an AI-based quality inspection system have been introduced on the construction equipment assembly line, increasing the proportion of automated processes.

As a result, factory productivity is expected to increase by about 20% compared with before, and the time required to complete product production will be shortened by about 35%. Annual production of excavators ranging from medium to ultra-large and wheel loaders will also increase from 9,600 units to 15,000 units, an increase of about 56%.

In particular, HD Hyundai Construction Equipment plans to make this Ulsan site a global production center, the "Mother Plant," and to link it with major overseas production subsidiaries and customization centers in the United States and Europe.

HD Hyundai Chairman Kwon Oh-gap emphasized: "The new factory, rebuilt with an intelligent and safe production system, will become a world-class production center equipped with technology and environmental credentials." "Please carry a sense of mission as if representing the country and produce products that can compete openly with the world."

HD Hyundai Construction Equipment President Choi Chul-kun said: "Through the Ulsan complex, which has been recreated around the smart factory, we have further enhanced the quality competitiveness of our products." "We will continue to launch excellent products, including next-generation models, that can lead the construction equipment industry."

In addition, the "Smart Factory Production Unit No. 1 Delivery Ceremony" was held on the same day as the completion ceremony. A total of five units of equipment were delivered on site to major dealers and customers from South Korea, the United States, Europe, China, and Indonesia, including the new 40-ton-class excavator model first unveiled at "2025 Seoul Mobility Show," as well as a 125-ton-class ultra-large excavator and a 35-ton-class large wheel loader.
