On May 19 local time, the first intake tower of the Saudi Jafurah Seawater Desalination Project successfully completed the five-story structural lifting and intake pipeline connection, marking important phased progress in the construction of the project's water intake system.

The project installs a total of two intake towers, each five stories high. With complex structures and massive scale, the lifting operations are classified as an ultra-high-risk major engineering work, involving high construction safety risks and significant technical difficulty. As key facilities connecting the seawater source with the treatment system, the intake towers undertake the important task of raw water conveyance for the project and are the core component of the entire water intake system.

To ensure the safe and efficient progress of the lifting operations, the project team organized multiple rounds of technical reviews and special scheme optimization in the early stage, prepared a detailed lifting construction plan based on actual site conditions, and completed preparatory work such as the erection of working platforms and commissioning of lifting equipment in advance. During construction, the team strictly followed operating procedures, overcame adverse factors such as high temperatures and confined site space, and accurately completed the story-by-story lifting of the five-story structure. After the structural lifting was completed, construction personnel promptly advanced the interface work with the intake pipeline, achieving organic integration of the structure and system functions and laying a solid foundation for subsequent system commissioning.

The Saudi Jafurah Seawater Desalination Project is located in eastern Saudi Arabia. Its main scope of work includes the EPC of a seawater desalination plant with a daily water production capacity of 80,000 cubic meters and approximately 200 kilometers of water transmission pipelines. Once completed, the project will provide desalinated water for the development facilities of the Jafurah gas field in Saudi Arabia, injecting new momentum into local economic development.
