On May 24, the Malawi Shire Valley Irrigation Secondary Canal Construction Project of PowerChina Municipal Construction Company officially commenced.

As an important component of the Shire Valley Transformation Program, the project is located in the Chikwawa District of southern Malawi, in the lower Shire River valley approximately 60 kilometers from the city of Blantyre. The main function of the secondary canal construction project is to divert water from the main canal and convey it to the various irrigation areas along the main canal, making it a key link in achieving precision irrigation and regional agricultural modernization.

"Water is the source of life and, even more, the hope for development." Once completed, the project will form a complete, scientific, and efficient irrigation network together with the main canal system, effectively resolving water-use issues in the irrigation district, providing stable and reliable water resource guarantees for local agricultural land and farmland, and bringing harvests and prosperity to the vast fields of the Shire Valley.

Next, the project department will continue to leverage its advantages in technology, talent, and management, with scientific coordination and refined management, advancing project construction and contract performance under high standards and strict requirements, comprehensively demonstrating the company's positive image and supporting the sustainable development of agriculture in Malawi.
