On May 19 local time, the No. 5 dry dock gates of the Saudi King's Port project undertaken by Shandong Electric Power Construction Company successfully passed leakage tests at both high and low tide levels on both the A and B faces. The achievement of this milestone marks the complete conclusion of the installation and acceptance of all dry dock gates for the project.

The Saudi King's Port project is an important part of Saudi Arabia's "Vision 2030," mainly engaged in the manufacturing, maintenance, and repair of ships and drilling platforms, as well as the overhaul and construction of supertankers. The No. 4 and No. 5 dry docks of the project are the core structures for ship construction, repair, and maintenance, with a water filling and discharge volume of up to one million tons. The dry dock gates all adopt symmetrically designed floating caisson-type gates, measuring 76.5 meters long, 6 meters wide, and 12.5 meters high, weighing more than 2,600 tons. Both the A and B faces of the gates are equipped with sealing rubber, allowing either face to be used interchangeably. At the same time, the sealing form of the floating caisson-type gate is designed as an internationally rare "small ear" type with a height of only 10 mm. Compared with the "Ω"-shaped sealing rubber commonly used at home and abroad, the latter has greater compression and tolerance, and places extremely high requirements on the construction precision of the civil structure and the sealing rubber. The axis deviation of the gate's sealing steel surface and rubber must not exceed 100 meters/±1 mm, and the flatness must not exceed ±0.5 mm/3 m.

With the complete conclusion of the dry dock gate installation work, the marine engineering of the Saudi King's Port project has completed all key technical milestones. As of now, the project's EPC progress has reached 96.76%. Once completed, the project will not only have the world's largest ship lift system, the longest wharf, and a combined lifting capacity among the world's top, but will also become the world's largest "super shipyard" with its massive scale, advanced facilities, and strong production capacity, exerting a positive impact on promoting Saudi economic diversification, increasing GDP, enhancing foreign trade levels, strengthening industrial synergy, and creating more job opportunities.
