Mega-Equipment — Building Key Products

With the nation's grand interests at heart, CRCHI has achieved systematic and disruptive independent innovation, successfully creating mega-equipment represented by China's largest independently developed diameter shield machine "Jianghai," the first domestic 16-meter-class ultra-large-diameter shield machine "Jinghua," and others, leading domestic equipment to complete the transformation from "following" and "running in parallel" to "partially leading," and realizing leapfrog development from dependence on imports to batch exports.

China's largest independently developed diameter shield machine "Jianghai"

On October 31, 2024, China's largest independently developed diameter shield machine "Jianghai," with a maximum excavation diameter of 16.64 meters, rolled off the production line at CRCHI and was applied to the construction of the Haitai Yangtze River Tunnel, currently the world's longest underwater highway shield tunnel, marking a new breakthrough in the industrialization of domestic ultra-large-diameter shield machines.

The first domestic 16-meter-class ultra-large-diameter shield machine "Jinghua"

On September 27, 2020, the first domestic 16-meter-class ultra-large-diameter shield machine "Jinghua" rolled off the production line at CRCHI and was applied to the Beijing East Sixth Ring Road reconstruction project. The cutterhead is designed based on the red facial makeup in Peking opera representing loyalty, bravery, righteousness, and valor, with a striking appearance that highlights Beijing's regional cultural characteristics.

Domestic largest-diameter open-type TBM "Jianghan Neolithic"

On November 22, 2024, the domestic largest-diameter open-type TBM "Jianghan Neolithic," with an excavation diameter of 11.93 meters, rolled off the production line at CRCHI and was applied to the Jianghan Water Diversion Project of the South-to-North Water Diversion Middle Route. This is the largest-diameter open-type TBM ever made in China, and also the tunneling equipment for the largest cross-section and longest soft-rock deformation section of the Jianghan Water Diversion Project.

Shield machines for the world's longest high-speed rail submarine tunnel "Dinghai" and "Yongzhou"

The shield machines for the world's longest high-speed rail submarine tunnel, "Dinghai" and "Yongzhou," rolled off the production line at CRCHI on January 10 and February 26, 2024, respectively, and were applied to the Jintang Submarine Tunnel of the Yongzhou Railway, the world's longest submarine high-speed rail tunnel.

The world's largest-diameter earth pressure balance–double shield combined TBM "Qiangji"

On March 26, 2025, the world's largest-diameter earth pressure balance–double shield combined TBM "Qiangji" rolled off the production line at CRCHI and was applied to the 12.28-kilometer water conveyance tunnel of the southern section of the north-south line of the subsequent western channel project of the Hangjiahu South Drainage Project expansion.

The world's first pure electric plateau-type fully computerized three-boom rock drilling jumbo

On September 30, 2022, the world's first pure electric plateau-type fully computerized three-boom rock drilling jumbo rolled off the production line at CRCHI. This pure electric drilling jumbo features zero emissions and zero pollution, can save more than 100,000 yuan in energy costs per year, and can reduce carbon dioxide emissions by about 30 tons, helping to achieve the national "dual carbon" goals.

The first domestic set of ultra-high roadway rapid excavation and bolting complete equipment

On April 29, 2021, the first domestic set of ultra-high roadway rapid excavation and bolting complete equipment rolled off the production line at CRCHI. The equipment features functions such as one-pass roadway formation in ultra-high roadways, autonomous navigation, advanced drilling, rapid support, continuous transfer, fault diagnosis, and remote centralized control, enabling integrated construction of the entire process of exploration, excavation, support, and transport at the tunneling face.

Mega-Equipment — Serving Major Projects

Focusing on "what the nation needs," CRCHI shields through deep ground and deep sea, conquers plateaus and severe cold, and supports major project construction, making tunnel construction greener, safer, and more efficient, and giving customers greater peace of mind, confidence, and convenience.

Beijing East Sixth Ring Road reconstruction project

The Beijing East Sixth Ring Road reconstruction project starts from the Jingha Expressway in the south and extends to Luyuan North Street in the north, with a design speed of 80 km/h and a total length of about 16 kilometers. It is a landmark project for Beijing's sub-center to "create an innovative development axis that stitches together urban functions, effectively mend urban space, and solve the problem of expressways dividing the city."

CRCHI's first domestic 16-meter-class ultra-large-diameter shield machine "Jinghua" completed its tunneling task and successfully broke through on June 28, 2023. During construction, it achieved excellent results of a maximum daily advance of 24 meters and a maximum monthly advance of 542 meters, helping to achieve the first-line breakthrough of China's longest shield-driven expressway tunnel.

South-to-North Water Diversion supporting project

As an important supporting project of the Beijing section of the South-to-North Water Diversion, the Hexi Branch Project draws water from the Daning Regulating Reservoir and delivers pressurized water to the Sanjiadian Regulating Pond. Once completed, the project will effectively solve the water use problem in southwestern Beijing and improve the city's water resource guarantee capacity in the southwestern region.

The "Jingshunda" earth pressure balance shield machine tailor-made by CRCHI for the Hexi Branch Project achieved an excellent daily advance of 46.8 meters during tunneling, providing strong support for efficient, safe, environmentally friendly, and rapid tunnel construction.

Beijing Winter Olympics utility tunnel project

The 2022 Winter Olympics utility tunnel is located at the foot of Haituo Mountain, about 18 kilometers northwest of Yanqing District, Beijing. The tunnel has a total length of 7.5 kilometers and is a comprehensive transmission tunnel for power supply, communications, and event broadcasting in the competition zone, known as the "lifeline of the competition zone."

The 01 bid section constructed with CRCHI's TBM was the first project in the Winter Olympics to adopt TBM construction and also the first use of TBM construction in a large underground utility tunnel in China. The equipment completed its tunneling task on August 1, 2018, with a maximum monthly advance of 356 meters and an average monthly advance of 248 meters, ensuring the smooth holding of the first alpine skiing test event in 2020.

Jilin Songhua River Water Diversion Project

The central Jilin urban water diversion project is a large-scale water transfer project that diverts water from the Fengman Reservoir area of the Songhua River to the central region of Jilin Province. It is the water conservancy project with the largest water transfer scale, the longest water conveyance route, and the widest beneficiary area in Jilin Province's history.

The first domestic large-diameter open-type TBM developed by CRCHI under the national "863" Program completed tunnel breakthrough 14 months ahead of schedule in the project, setting the record for the fastest TBM tunnel construction speed for a similar cross-section in China.

Beishan Underground Research Laboratory spiral ramp project

The construction of the spiral ramp is key to the Beishan Underground Research Laboratory project in China. The ramp has a total length of about 7.2 kilometers and provides key parameters and technical support for site evaluation, repository design, construction, and safety assessment of the disposal system for the Beishan Underground Research Laboratory.

The world's first large-slope spiral tunnel boring machine "Beishan No. 1" achieved spiral tunneling with a horizontal turning radius of 200 meters and a simultaneous vertical curve radius of 380 meters during project construction, marking a new breakthrough in China's scientific and technological research on underground engineering equipment.

Shenzhen-Jiangmen Railway Pearl River Estuary Tunnel project

The Shenzhen-Jiangmen Railway is an important component of the coastal corridor of China's "Eight Vertical and Eight Horizontal" high-speed rail network. The Pearl River Estuary Tunnel, with a total length of 13.69 kilometers, is a key control project of the Shenzhen-Jiangmen Railway. It is currently the submarine tunnel with the greatest burial depth and the highest water pressure in China and one of the most difficult underwater tunnels under construction in the country.

During construction, China's deepest submarine tunnel shield machine "Shenjiang No. 1" successfully reached a depth of 106 meters below the seabed and completed the planned tunneling task of 3,590 meters. This is the deepest record for underwater tunneling by a Chinese shield machine and also the deepest seabed record reached by a Chinese high-speed rail shield tunnel.

Changde Yuanjiang Tunnel project

The Changde Yuanjiang Tunnel is the "first tunnel of the thousand-li Yuanjiang." After completion, driving across the river will take as little as 5 minutes, playing an important role in alleviating traffic pressure on bridges and waterways and realizing the "one river, two banks, coordinated development" plan.

CRCHI's first domestic large-diameter slurry balance shield machine with atmospheric cutter replacement "Yuan'an" maintained an equipment integrity rate of over 98% from launch to breakthrough. In particular, the successful development and application of atmospheric cutter replacement technology filled the gap in China in this field of shield machine technology.

UAE Etihad Rail project

CRCHI's fully computerized three-boom rock drilling jumbo successfully completed advanced anchor bolt support construction at the tunnel portal of the import tunnel of the first sub-section of Package D, Phase II of the UAE Etihad Rail project, winning customer recognition and praise and marking the successful debut of CRCHI's tunnel construction equipment exported in batches to the Middle East.

Caojiatan Coal Mine

CRCHI's rapid excavation and bolting complete equipment set a record of 3,008 meters of monthly advance in ultra-large cross-section roadway excavation at Caojiatan Coal Mine, with work efficiency reaching 3 to 5 times that of traditional excavation equipment. Integrating exploration, excavation, support, and transport, it realized simultaneous excavation and bolting operations and improved the equipment's roadway formation speed.

Mega-Equipment — Appearing on Important Occasions

With outstanding quality, CRCHI's mega-equipment has not only appeared in major projects but also frequently on important occasions. Its brand influence is growing, and its brand card is shining brighter.

China's largest independently developed diameter (16.64-meter) shield machine "Jianghai" was honored as one of the "Top Ten National Mega-Equipment of Central State-Owned Enterprises in 2024."

"Jinghua" was included in the "Questions and Answers on Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era" (see page 243), becoming a case of moving from Made in China to Created in China and promoting high-quality development.

Tunnel boring machine products have continuously participated in the National "12th Five-Year Plan" and "13th Five-Year Plan" Science and Technology Innovation Achievement Exhibitions and the "Striving in the New Era" Theme Achievement Exhibition, and were reviewed by Party and state leaders.

From November 26 to 29, 2024, CRCHI's mega-equipment appeared at the 2024 Shanghai Bauma China International Construction Machinery Exhibition.
