Recently, the China Construction Industry Association announced the2024 Construction and Municipal EngineeringGreen Construction Technology Competition results list, four projects undertaken by China 19th Metallurgical Corporation (MCC19) won threesecond prizes and onethird prize. Let's take a look at the winning projects together~

Second Prize

Weifang Bintou Car Time Automobile City (South Zone)

The Weifang Car Time Automobile City project aims to build a "green benchmark project," strictly implementing mandatory building energy-saving standards and vigorously advancing green building initiatives. Through three major levers—refined management, technological innovation, and smart empowerment—the project team optimized construction techniques, applied energy-saving materials, and promoted intelligent management to comprehensively reduce resource consumption and the environmental impact of construction. The team innovatively adopted green construction methods such as prefabricated building technology, full-cycle BIM application, solar-powered temporary facilities, and intelligent sprinkler-sweeper vehicles, saving more than 8 million yuan in costs through green construction and achieving a win-win of economic and ecological benefits.

Kaizhou–Yunyang Expressway (Jiangkou–Yunyang–Longgang Section)PPP Project

The Kaizhou–Yunyang Expressway (Jiangkou–Yunyang–Longgang Section) PPP project has a total length of 36.61 kilometers, including 21 bridges and 10 tunnels, with a bridge-tunnel ratio as high as 73.6%. While strictly upholding the bottom line of engineering safety and quality, the project practiced the concept of green construction. Centering on the "five savings and one environmental protection" principle, it established a management system and management rules, adopted effective technical measures, maximized resource conservation, reduced energy consumption, and lowered the cost of safe and civilized construction, achieving the organic unity of green construction and project profitability.

Lingshui "Five Pavilions" and One Center Project

The Lingshui "Five Pavilions" and One Center project practices the concept of green construction and strives to create a demonstration model of low-carbon architecture for Hainan's tropical islands. During construction, the project department integrated energy-saving, land-saving, material-saving, water-saving, environmental protection, and full-process BIM application technologies to achieve deep integration of green construction with regional culture. Its BIM application won a first-class achievement of the national "Golden Standard Cup" and was rated as a demonstration project for the application of new technologies in Hainan's construction industry. The project's architectural form deeply integrates Li ethnic marine sailboat and egret elements, and through passive energy-saving designs such as natural lighting and ventilation, endows regional culture with sustainable vitality. In addition, the project adopts an integrated design of a large-span wave-shaped roof and a courtyard-style layout, balancing artistic beauty with resource intensification, improving space utilization by 30%, and creating layered, interwoven functional spaces.

Third Prize

Bao'an Jiangbi Environmental Protection Technology Innovation Industrial Park – Industrial WastewaterCentralized Treatment Plant New Construction Project

Guided by the green and low-carbon concept and centered on technological innovation, the Bao'an Jiangbi project systematically built a green construction management system and advanced low-carbon practices across the project's full life cycle through multi-module coordination. During construction, BIM technology was used throughout the construction process for design, simulation, and optimization to reduce unnecessary material waste; national green-promotion technologies such as integrated energy-saving technology for magnetic levitation centrifugal blowers were actively applied to enhance overall benefits; and innovative modular unit designs for sludge treatment and aeration systems were adopted to achieve the "five savings and one environmental protection" goal. During construction, the project also deeply integrated eight major categories and 23 sub-items of new technologies from the "10 New Technologies in the Construction Industry," helping to promote and develop green construction technology and contributing to building a green, livable, and business-friendly Greater Bay Area.

The Construction and Municipal Engineering Green Construction Technology Competition is China's first national construction technology competition focused on the "dual carbon" goals. It aims to summarize and distill advanced technologies, innovative processes, and management experience from green construction practices and to drive the green transformation and upgrading of the construction industry. It is one of the most authoritative honor certifications in green construction within China's construction industry. This year's competition attracted more than 1,000 construction enterprises nationwide, covering municipal engineering, building construction, and other fields. Winning projects must pass rigorous evaluations on multiple criteria, including technological advancement, environmental benefits, economic benefits, and replicability.

This award is a high recognition of MCC19's technical level, innovation capability, and management capability in the field of green construction. Next, the company will closely follow the frontier dynamics and trends of industry development, uphold the core concept of "green construction," carry out technological innovation around green construction practices, focus on its main construction business, explore more green construction solutions, and contribute more to promoting the high-quality development of the construction industry.
