At around 11 a.m. local time on April 3, the water supply celebration ceremony for the 2B section of the Sigatoka project in Fiji was grandly held in Usama Village. Fiji's Minister of Public Works attended and, together with local chiefs, cut the ribbon for the project. Reporters from Fiji's official media outlet FIJI TIMES and several government officials jointly witnessed this historic moment.

The Fiji Sigatoka water supply network extension project comprises three sections, 1B, 2B, and 3B, with a total length of 15,691 meters, and is being constructed by a consortium of Sinohydro Bureau 10 and Huadong Engineering Corporation. At the celebration ceremony, Fiji's Minister of Public Works slowly turned on the tap, and clean, hygienic tap water gushed out amid cheers from the crowd, marking the official end of the history in which Usama Village had never had running water since its founding.

In his speech at the ceremony, Fiji's Minister of Public Works highly praised the outstanding achievements of Power Construction Corporation of China (PowerChina) in this project, expressed high recognition of and sincere gratitude for the hard work of the construction team. He also noted that the project is a major livelihood project for the people of Fiji, and its smooth commissioning not only effectively solves the local water supply problem and greatly improves the villagers' quality of life, but also injects strong momentum into the optimized allocation of regional water resources and sustainable economic and social development, further deepening China-Fiji cooperation and exchanges in the infrastructure sector.
