On local time, the Bolivia Ivirizu Hydropower Station Lot II Project reached an important milestone — the Hongdasi regulating reservoir area successfully achieved impoundment, marking the smooth completion of the project's final key milestone. The project's core water conservancy hub system has fully entered the commissioning stage, laying a solid foundation for subsequent power generation by the units.

The Hongdasi regulating reservoir area is located at the inlet of the secondary diversion tunnel, with a total storage capacity of approximately 40,000 cubic meters, an average water depth of 5.5 meters, and a maximum water depth of 7.37 meters. It is a key hub of the project's secondary powerhouse and undertakes important functions such as water energy collection, flow regulation, and ensuring stable power supply. The reservoir area design fully embodies the concepts of engineering innovation and ecological protection: on the one hand, the reservoir area integrates the tailwater of the Sewencas Hydropower Station with the natural runoff of the Hongdasi River to form a stable water source of 36.5 cubic meters per second, which continuously delivers power water flow to the downstream powerhouse through a 1,321-meter diversion tunnel and a 2,650-millimeter-diameter, 1,600-meter-long penstock, driving two high-precision Francis turbines to achieve efficient and stable power generation; on the other hand, the reservoir area is equipped with a total of 9 sets of hydraulic hoist systems, 13 sets of metal structure gates, and 3 sets of trash racks, adopting a tiered gate configuration mode (5 bays for single-unit operation, 2 bays for dual-unit operation, and 6 bays for triple-unit operation), greatly improving the precision and safety of water flow regulation. At the same time, the reservoir area is equipped with an advanced automated trash-cleaning system to ensure clean water quality and long-term efficient operation of equipment.

The successful impoundment of the Hongdasi regulating reservoir area this time marks that the Bolivia Ivirizu Hydropower Station Lot II Project has officially moved from the civil construction stage into a new stage of functional operation. After the project is fully put into operation, its estimated annual power generation can meet the electricity demand of millions of households, substantially reducing Bolivia's dependence on traditional fossil energy and providing strong support for the country's strategic goal of achieving "energy sovereignty." At the same time, through optimized water resource management, the project achieves coordinated development of energy production and ecological protection, effectively taking into account the ecological and environmental protection of Carrasco National Park, and providing long-term solid guarantees for regional agricultural irrigation, disaster prevention and mitigation, and sustainable development.
