On March 26, the Dadu River Zhentouba Secondary Hydropower Station successfully completed the milestone of lowering the gates to retain water, laying the foundation for safe flood control and the first unit's power generation this year.

The station is located in the urban area of Jinkouhe, Leshan City. As one of the few large hydropower stations in China built within a city, it is also a key construction project of Sichuan Province's 14th Five-Year Plan and a major "wall-chart combat" project of Leshan City. Invested in and constructed by the National Energy Group, and jointly undertaken by PowerChina Sinohydro Bureau 7 and China Anneng Group First Engineering Bureau, it has a total installed capacity of 300 MW and an average annual power generation of more than 1.5 billion kWh. Once completed, it will save 450,000 tons of standard coal and reduce carbon dioxide emissions by 960,000 tons per year, which is of great significance for helping achieve the national "dual carbon" goals.

To ensure the smooth completion of this milestone, the project department planned ahead and made full use of the low-flow period in the dry season to complete cofferdam removal, reducing the impact of blasting. At the same time, giving full play to the leading role of Party building, it established a Party member vanguard team for securing the decisive victory of lowering the gates to retain water and a youth assault team for breaking the cofferdam and filling water. Focusing on technical scheme innovation and construction process optimization, it strictly controlled all key links, overcame difficulties such as a tight schedule, numerous cross-operations, extensive coordination, and high intensity, and completed the main construction of Phase II of the project.
