Recently, with the precise blasting of the final rock wall layer, the No. 1 diversion shaft of the State Grid Xinyuan Anhui Tongcheng Pumped Storage Power Station project, constructed by Sinohydro Bureau 12, was successfully completed, laying a solid foundation for the power station to be put into operation and generate electricity.

The diversion shaft is a core component of the Anhui Tongcheng Pumped Storage Power Station project, undertaking the important tasks of water diversion and conveyance. The No. 1 diversion shaft has a depth of 373.7 meters and a shaft body diameter of 9.9 meters. The surrounding rock of the shaft is mainly slightly weathered to fresh rock, with obvious joint development, and most of it lies below the groundwater level, making construction relatively difficult. To ensure the efficient and safe progress of the shaft expansion excavation, the project department actively coordinated all participating parties to carry out joint exploration, continuously optimized the blasting design and construction plan, and vigorously implemented mechanized replacement of personnel, reducing the maximum number of workers inside the shaft from 9 to 4 to ensure intrinsic safety.

The Anhui Tongcheng Pumped Storage Power Station is a Class I large (1) type project with a total installed capacity of 1,280 megawatts. After all units are put into operation and generate electricity, it can save 116,000 tons of standard coal and reduce carbon dioxide emissions by 300,000 tons annually. Once completed, the power station will further optimize the power source structure of the Anhui provincial power grid, serve and drive local economic and social development, and help the country achieve the "dual carbon" goals at an early date.
