On March 5, with the successful completion of the final row of blasting operations, the first ultra-long water diversion inclined shaft of the water diversion system project of the Henan Lushan Pumped Storage Power Station, constructed by Sinohydro Bureau 14 Co., Ltd., achieved precise breakthrough, laying a solid foundation for the power station's first unit to generate electricity in 2026.

The inclined shaft has a total length of 360.719 meters, an inclination angle of 60 degrees, and an excavation diameter of 7.9 meters. During construction, the project team adopted a three-stage progressive construction system of "directional drilling + raise boring + manual expansion excavation," applied advanced geological forecasting and rapid sealing and support technologies, and innovatively implemented a three-dimensional operation mode of "φ311 mm pilot hole first + φ2.5 m slag discharge shaft reverse expansion," successfully overcoming the challenge of large-section excavation under Class II surrounding rock geological conditions. Through high-precision measurement and setting-out and refined management, the maximum monthly advance exceeded 93 meters, surpassing the average level of similar projects, achieving over-excavation and under-excavation control accuracy within 7.5 centimeters and a half-hole rate of over 95%.

The Lushan Pumped Storage Power Station is a energy storage project supported by the state and a key project under Henan Province's "Three Batches" initiative, with an installed capacity of 1.3 million kilowatts. After completion, the power station will mainly undertake tasks such as peak shaving, valley filling, frequency regulation, phase modulation, and emergency accident reserve for the Henan power grid, playing an important role in improving the safety, stability, and reliability of power grid operation.
