On February 28, Kenyan President Ruto attended the groundbreaking and unveiling ceremony of the Taveta Road Project undertaken by PowerChina Municipal Company. He was accompanied by government officials including Minister of Transport Davis Chirchir and the Director-General of the Highways Authority, as well as the governors of Taita-Taveta County and Kajiado County where the project is located, members of parliament, and representatives of local residents.

At the ceremony site, after listening in detail to the introduction by representatives of PowerChina Municipal Company on the project and its preliminary preparations, Ruto unveiled the plaque for the project start, started the on-site equipment, declared the project officially commenced, and delivered a speech. Ruto praised PowerChina Municipal Company's construction achievements in Kenya over the years. He stated that the many high-quality projects undertaken by PowerChina Municipal Company have made outstanding contributions to Kenya's national development, and that its brand image has won the recognition and appreciation of local residents.

The project manager stated that the company will fully optimize resource allocation, implement milestone targets, steadily advance construction, and contribute to local economic development through high-quality contract performance.

The Kenya Taveta Road Project is located at the foot of Mount Kilimanjaro in the southwest, along the border between Kenya and Tanzania. The road has a total length of 66.5 kilometers, and the main scope of work is upgrading the existing gravel road to a high-grade asphalt concrete road. Upon completion, the road will effectively improve poor local traffic conditions and provide faster connections between Amboseli and Tsavo national wildlife parks, which is of great significance for promoting the development of the local agricultural economy and tourism.
