On February 20 local time, PowerChina's KKH Pumped Storage Power Station Project in Israel (referred to as the "KH Pumped Storage Project") obtained the power generation license issued by Israel's Public Utilities Authority - Electricity, as well as the Taking-Over Certificate issued by the owner. Starting from February 21, the KH Pumped Storage Power Station has entered commercial operation, and the project has successfully achieved project handover.

The KH Pumped Storage Project is a national key project of Israel, located in the Gilboa mountain range in northeastern Israel, near the lower Jordan Valley. It is Israel's second and largest pumped storage power station. The power station mainly consists of an upper reservoir, water conveyance system, underground powerhouse system, lower reservoir, and central control building/switchyard. The underground powerhouse is equipped with two reversible pump-turbine generator units with a single-unit capacity of 172 MW, and a total installed capacity of 344 MW, playing an important role in the safe and stable operation of Israel's power grid.

The KH Pumped Storage Project was constructed under the EPC general contracting model, with a joint venture of PowerChina and General Electric as the EPC contractor. PowerChina, as the joint venture leader, was responsible for the design, supply, construction, and electromechanical installation of civil works, penstocks, and part of the auxiliary systems, as well as handover, while General Electric was responsible for the design, supply, and commissioning of the electromechanical equipment of the power station. The project officially commenced in July 2017. During the performance of the contract, the project team overcame numerous difficulties such as complex geological conditions, carried forward the spirit of tackling difficulties and tenacious struggle, and completed all work tasks. This project is the first pumped storage EPC project undertaken and completed with handover overseas by a Chinese contractor in 2025, and is of great milestone significance.
