From February 17 to 19, the Technical Discussion Meeting on the Revision of the "Code for Geological Investigation of Small and Medium-Sized Water Conservancy and Hydropower Projects" (SL 55-2005), hosted by Hunan Provincial Water Resources and Hydropower Survey, Design, Planning and Research Institute Co., Ltd., was held in Changsha.
More than 20 authoritative experts from the Water Resources and Hydropower Planning and Design General Institute of the Ministry of Water Resources and 10 basin and provincial design institutes gathered together to jointly pursue the upgrading of industry technical standards and provide a new benchmark for the scientificity and safety of geological investigation of small and medium-sized water conservancy projects.
This revision is based on the requirements for high-quality development of water conservancy during the "14th Five-Year Plan" period, focuses on resolving the contradiction that the existing code lags behind technological development, and at the same time builds a technical defense line for the safety of small and medium-sized projects. Participating experts conducted in-depth discussions on key aspects such as the overall framework of the code, technical clauses, the key contents and methods of investigation work at each design stage, investigation depth, and workload arrangement. Combining practical experience in domestic water conservancy and hydropower projects in recent years, the experts put forward a number of constructive opinions. The on-site exchange was lively and the collision of views was thorough, laying a solid technical foundation for the revision of the code.
At present, the revision of the code has entered a key stage. It is planned to solicit opinions from March to April 2025, complete the draft for review in June, submit it for review in July, and strive for official release and implementation before the end of the year. The implementation of the new code will significantly improve the technical level of geological investigation of small and medium-sized water conservancy and hydropower projects in China, and inject new momentum into project safety, quality control, and the sustainable development of the industry.
