The infrastructure "rocket force" battles on the Xiangjiang Road East Extension Project in the SCO Demonstration Zone, achieving "acceleration" in construction. Early spring brings hard work as the builders strive for a strong start. In the southeast area of the SCO Demonstration Zone, the Xiangjiang Road East Extension Project undertaken by China Construction Eighth Engineering Division is in full swing. To open up this important regional traffic artery as soon as possible, the builders are accelerating pile foundation, roadbed, and bridge foundation construction, launching an all-out assault along the 2.77-kilometer front.
Currently, the construction of more than 65,000 dry jet mixing piles for the road section of the project has entered the final stage. At the construction site, multiple pile drivers are operating in an orderly manner, and construction personnel are strictly following the drawings and specifications to ensure the quality of pile foundation construction.
"The pile length, cement mixing ratio, plan position, and verticality of each dry jet mixing pile must be monitored throughout the entire process to ensure quality control stays within the allowable range of the specifications." According to on-site project manager Zhong Renliang, dry jet mixing piles are the foundation of the road, and controlling the bearing capacity of single piles and composite foundations to meet requirements is the key to road construction.
In the road construction section, roadbed filling and other work are also advancing rapidly. Surveyors carefully verify to ensure accurate data; machine operators are highly skilled, equipment operation is precise and in place, and on-site construction is efficient and orderly. It is understood that the project team, by reasonably dividing construction areas and optimizing construction processes, has achieved three-dimensional interleaved construction among various trades, improving efficiency by 30% compared with traditional construction modes.
The new bridge section also presents a busy scene. Foundation pit support and excavation, as well as concrete pouring for bridge tie beams, pier columns, abutments, and cap beams, are in full progress. With the strong support and coordination of Qingdao SCO Holding Development Group Co., Ltd., the project is advancing steadily according to the established plan. At present, all bored pile foundations for the new bridge section have been completed, tie beam and pier column construction is 87% complete, abutment cap beam work is 48% complete, and box girder erection has completed 4 spans. The entire line is expected to open to traffic on May 1, 2025.
According to project manager Zhong Renliang, during construction the project team has fully leveraged its technical advantages and management experience. While racing against time to make progress, it has strictly controlled process quality and safety management to ensure delivery of a safe and high-quality project.
The Xiangjiang Road East Extension Project is an east-west urban trunk road in the southeast area of the SCO Demonstration Zone, starting from SCO Avenue in the west and ending at Ecological Avenue in the east, connecting with the Jiaozhou Bay Bridge link line. Once completed, the project will further improve the regional transportation network, strengthen economic ties between the SCO Demonstration Zone and areas on the opposite shore as well as other parts of Qingdao, promote industrial cooperation, trade exchanges, and resource sharing, provide strong transportation support for industrial development and investment promotion in the SCO Demonstration Zone, and drive economic growth in areas along the route.
