At the start of the Chinese New Year, construction sites of major water conservancy projects in Hunan Province are bustling with activity. The builders are painting a picture of high-quality development through their hard work, getting the 2025 project construction off to a good start and a solid beginning.

At 10 a.m. on February 11, at the Daxingzhai Reservoir construction site, workers at various locations were already busy on the scaffolding. The dam has now been poured to an elevation of 295 meters, with more than 3 meters of concrete placed on average every 15 days, and only the final 19.5 meters remain to reach the dam crest. However, low temperatures have brought some difficulties to the curing of cement concrete. To race against time, the construction unit organized personnel to carry out full-coverage insulation of the poured layers, ensuring the curing quality of roller-compacted concrete.

During the New Year holiday, more than 140 construction personnel of the Jintangchong Reservoir hub project stayed at the site, which was bustling with activity. During this period, 13,000 cubic meters of earth and rock were excavated and 2,635 cubic meters of concrete were poured. The Spring Festival saw no shutdown, and the project did not slow down. After the holiday, as construction workers gradually returned, the construction intensity of the Jintangchong Reservoir hub project increased rapidly. It is expected that by the end of August, the 8-bay overflow dam on the left bank will be poured to the top and the first-stage cofferdam will be ready for removal, and by the end of the year most of the excavation work for the right-bank foundation pit will be completed.

It is reported that the various sections of the Quanmutang Reservoir irrigation district project have gradually resumed work and production. All participating units are working together to ensure the completion of the first batch of water supply targets for the irrigation district this year. The dam section and the hub traffic section of the Meishan irrigation district have resumed work and production, the first section of the irrigation district is resuming work in an orderly manner, and the construction adit at the canal head has been excavated 492 meters.
