Super-Large-Diameter Slurry Shield Machine "Pingshan East No. 4" Successfully Launched

Recently, the super-large-diameter slurry shield machine "Pingshan East No. 4" (CREC No. 1326), jointly developed by China Railway No. 3 Engineering Group and China Railway Engineering Equipment Group (CREG), was successfully launched at the SSSG-4 section of the newly built Shenzhen-Shanwei Railway, marking the official entry of this section into the shield tunneling construction phase. The launched "Pingshan East No. 4" will undertake the 5,153.4-meter tunneling task of the Luzi shield section of the Pingshan East Tunnel, passing through complex strata such as slightly weathered granite and conglomerate, with local rock compressive strength reaching up to 120 MPa.

The "Pingshan East No. 4" shield machine has an excavation diameter of 14.31 meters, an overall length of 122 meters, and a total weight of 3,848 tons. It is equipped with advanced technologies such as a atmospheric cutterhead, advanced detection, and synchronous pushing and segment assembly. In response to the complex geological conditions, the CREG R&D team optimized the cutterhead structure and the mucking system, effectively enhancing the equipment's adaptability to hard rock strata and its tunneling efficiency.
After the Shenzhen-Shanwei Railway is completed, the commuting time from the central area of Shenzhen to the Shenzhen-Shanwei Cooperation Zone will be shortened to 30 minutes, further strengthening the linkage effect between the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area and the Yangtze River Delta and the West Taiwan Strait Economic Zone, and helping the Shenzhen-Shanwei Cooperation Zone integrate into the "Greater Bay Area on Rails."

Ready for Action! "CREC No. 1411" Earth Pressure Shield Machine Set to Set Sail

On February 10, the production workshop of the Tianjin Company was bustling with activity, as the "CREC No. 1411" shield machine was undergoing disassembly work at full speed, making an all-out sprint to ensure the smooth shipment of the equipment.

The "CREC No. 1411" is an "explosion-proof" earth pressure shield manufactured by CREG Tianjin Company. The equipment will be used in the PA-CT Phase II project in Sicily, Italy, with an excavation diameter of 9.48 meters, a total length of about 251 meters, and a total weight of about 2,300 tons. As the shipment date of the equipment approaches, the workshop is presenting a scene of intense activity. It is reported that the "CREC No. 1411" will be transported over 11,000 nautical miles, with a transportation period of about 70 days, and is expected to arrive at the Italian project construction site in early May 2025.
