On February 7, the tenth day of the first lunar month, the Shiziyang Channel project—a super project in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area—was bustling with activity. At the Pearl River estuary, where ships stream past in an endless flow, the east and west main towers of the Shiziyang Bridge, the project's controlling works, are rising like bamboo shoots after spring rain, having reached a construction height of 86.5 meters.
Guangdong Communications Group reports that all projects under construction—including the Shiziyang Channel, the Qinghua Expressway, the Guangzhou-Shaoguan South reconstruction and expansion, the Guangzhou-Zhaoqing reconstruction and expansion, and the reconstruction and expansion of the Heyuan-Huizhou section of the Changchun-Shenzhen Expressway—have fully resumed work and production, striving to achieve a strong start to the new year.
The main towers of the Shiziyang Bridge are 342 meters tall; construction has now reached segment T17 at a height of 86.5 meters, and the main bridge towers are expected to exceed 200 meters in 2025. During the Spring Festival, more than a hundred builders from Poly Changda, CCCC Second Harbor Engineering Co., Ltd. and other units devoted their efforts to the construction of the east and west towers of the Shiziyang Bridge, the main bridge of the Shiziyang Channel. After the Spring Festival, all 32 construction points along the entire line and 1,600 builders have been fully staffed. The bridge's first crossbeam is being erected, the anchorage has entered roof-slab construction, and the approach works on both banks have entered large-scale superstructure construction.
The Guangzhou-Shaoguan Expressway reconstruction and expansion project (southern section) officially resumed work on February 5. The roar of machinery and the comings and goings of construction vehicles intertwined as more than 1,300 builders and over 720 pieces of large equipment across the entire line quickly got to work and threw themselves into intensive construction. At present, the main service buildings of the project's two distinctive service areas, Wayao岗 and Fogang, have both been topped out; excavation of the Danjiaoshao Tunnel is more than halfway complete; the left carriageway of the Danjiaoshao Bridge has been successfully holed through; the first test section of the roadbed lower base course has been paved; and construction is in full swing along the entire line.
The Guangzhou-Zhuhai section reconstruction and expansion project fully resumed work and production on February 5. Nearly 150 pieces of equipment and about 1,000 workers across the entire line, in high spirits, carried out pre-construction preparations such as site reopening, passageway repairs, safety training, verification of safe production conditions, and briefing and training on quality-excellence planning.
After the Spring Festival holiday, the Qinghua Expressway project immediately pressed the "fast-forward" button on resuming work; more than 800 construction workers have reported for duty, and work faces in all 13 contract sections along the entire line have been fully activated.
On February 7, at the road surface construction site of Contract Section T8 of the Heyuan-Huizhou section reconstruction and expansion project of the Changchun-Shenzhen Expressway, more than 10 transport vehicles lined up neatly as operators climbed up ladders to several roller positions. As the paver ahead started its engine, large equipment at the site roared in unison, and operations such as asphalt feeding, rolling, and leveling unfolded in an orderly manner, sounding the clarion call for a vigorous start to spring construction. More than 600 workers and 200 pieces of machinery and equipment have successively moved in; the controlling works, the Dongjiang Grand Bridge, and road surface construction points have fully resumed work, and the project is expected to be completed and opened to traffic this year.
Since the fourth day of the first lunar month, workers of various trades at the Boqiao Service Area have successively returned to their posts; it has now fully resumed work with more than 300 personnel in place. In line with the goal of overall completion and readiness for operation in March, construction at the site—including the curtain wall works of the service building, interior decoration and renovation works, paving of the pedestrian plaza, and the connecting overpass—is continuing to advance. The project's highlight works, such as the landscape garden in the west area, the internet-famous restrooms, and the upgrading of surrounding landscaping and greening, are also in full bloom.
In response to the annual targets and key post-holiday plans, Guangdong Communications Group has required all projects under construction to promptly organize participating units to launch labor competitions and, on the premise of ensuring safety and quality, to push forward project progress with all their strength.
