On February 6, the launch ceremony for the 2025 key transportation engineering projects of Ronggui Subdistrict, Shunde District, Foshan City was held. According to reports, in 2025, 10 key transportation projects in Ronggui Subdistrict will commence construction, and transportation issues of public concern such as dead-end roads will be further resolved.
Roads are the lifeblood of urban development and the bond of people's well-being. The key transportation projects launched this time cover the three major areas of eastern, central, and western Ronggui. Among them: in the eastern area, proactive connection with the Shunde Bridge and the Zhongshan Eastern Outer Ring North Extension Shunde Section will comprehensively enhance the road traffic capacity of the eastern area, including Chaogui North Road and Chaoguang Road.
In the central area, on the one hand, in response to the Jinsha Tunnel project, the overall renovation and upgrading of Ronggui Avenue is being planned in tandem; on the other hand, efforts are focused on building the Zongqi Road project, creating the Tianyue Jiayi west-side road project and the Ronggui Subdistrict Beautiful Polder Town Construction Project, to ease traffic pressure in the area and attract talent and traffic to the central traditional industrial park.
In the western area, key road projects such as the western extension of Guizhou Avenue and the supporting road projects of the Western Strategic Emerging Industry Development Zone will be prioritized. The first phase of the western extension of Guizhou Avenue is planned to open to traffic by the end of July 2025, with the second and third phases striving to open to traffic in 2026, thoroughly unblocking the major east-west artery of Ronggui.
"Looking at the map, you can see that Ronggui's transportation network layout is 'three horizontal and five vertical.'" said Ou Shengjun, Deputy Secretary of the Party Working Committee and Director of the Office of Ronggui Subdistrict. He stated that in 2025 Ronggui will make every effort to advance the construction of 10 key transportation projects, among which Guizhou Avenue West is the urban "artery" that citizens have long hoped could be thoroughly connected. "Today, demolition and clearing finally began in Siji Community, and the western extension project of Guizhou Avenue has officially started construction."
As the starting whistle sounded, engineering vehicles carried out demolition of buildings along the western extension project of Guizhou Avenue (Dafu Road to Huaji Road section), and transportation project construction officially entered a new climax.
Liu Jun, a deputy to the Shunde District People's Congress, said: "As a deputy to the People's Congress, I am very happy and excited about the commencement of Ronggui's key transportation projects. The western extension project of Guizhou Avenue is something citizens have long awaited." He expressed confidence that this will effectively ease Ronggui's traffic congestion pressure and enhance citizens' sense of happiness.
2025 is the final year of the "14th Five-Year Plan" and also a crucial year for the "Hundreds, Thousands, and Tens of Thousands Project" to achieve the goal of "initial results in three years." In the new year, Ronggui will adhere to leading major development leaps with major transportation construction, focus on developing new quality productive forces, meticulously create the "one river, one ring, two axes, five parks" city-park symbiosis pattern of the Western Strategic New Area, ride the momentum to promote the "transformation" of urban renewal, actively advance livelihood projects, and strive to build a charming city that attracts visitors near and far, making Ronggui's contribution to "rebuilding a new Foshan."
Brief Introduction to the 2025 Key Transportation Projects of Ronggui Subdistrict
1. Zhongshan Eastern Outer Ring Expressway North Extension Project
The project spans Shunde District of Foshan City and Zhongshan City, starting from the Guangzhou-Zhuhai West Expressway and ending at the Guangzhou-Zhongshan-Jiangmen Expressway, with a total route length of 5.338 kilometers, including 3.85 kilometers in the Shunde section and 1.8 kilometers in Zhongshan City. The Shunde section has two interchanges: the Gaoli Hub (expressway-to-expressway interchange) and the Waihuan Road Interchange (ground-level service interchange).
2. Shunde District Nanguo East Road Extension Project (Shunde Bridge)
The project starts at the intersection of Daliang Nanguo East Road and Wusha Bridge (i.e., the bottom of the existing Wusha Bridge), crosses the Ronggui Waterway southward, and ends at Ronggui Waihuan Road, with a total route length of approximately 2.62 kilometers. The route runs north-south, adopting Class I highway standards with urban road functions, with the main road arranged as dual-direction 8 lanes and a design speed of 60 km/h.
3. Foshan Shunde District Jinsha Tunnel Project
The project is located in Shunde District, Foshan City, passing under the Ronggui Waterway, starting at the intersection of Jinsha Avenue and Desheng West Road and ending at the intersection of Ronggui Avenue and Rongqi Avenue. The red line width of the standard section of this project is 57 meters on the north bank and 43 meters on the south bank. The total route length is 1.978 kilometers, including a newly built river-crossing tunnel of 1.197 kilometers, with the main tunnel having dual-direction 6 lanes and a design speed of 50 km/h.
4. Western Extension of Guizhou Avenue (Lungui Road to Ronggui Dafu Road Section) New Construction Project
The project is located in Dafuji Community, with a length of 759 meters and a width of 60 meters, dual-direction 8 lanes, an urban main road, starting from Lungui Road in the west and connecting to Dafu Road in the east.
5. Western Extension of Guizhou Avenue (Dafu Road to Huaji Road Section) New Construction Project
The project is located in Ronggui Dafuji and Siji Communities, with a new road length of approximately 671 meters and a width of 60 meters, dual-direction 8 lanes, and a road grade of urban main road. The project is intended to extend Guizhou Avenue West to the Huaji Road section, and the middle section crossing the river is planned to adopt a box culvert form.
6. Guizhou Avenue West (Huaji Road to Cuizhu Road Section) New Construction Project
The project is located in Ronggui Siji Community, with a new road length of approximately 980 meters. The traffic-maintenance plan provides a road width of 20 meters, dual-direction 4 lanes, starting from the planned Huaji Road in the west and connecting to Cuizhu Road in the east, with a road grade of urban main road.
7. Supporting Road Projects of the Western Strategic New Industry Park
This project consists of three sub-projects:
I. Ronggui Subdistrict Western Industrial Park Planned Road New Construction Project (Phase I): The project is located in the Ronggui Strategic Emerging Industry Development Zone, with a new planned road length of approximately 3.417 kilometers and a width of approximately 15 to 30 meters.
II. Ronggui Subdistrict Zongshi San Road Planned Road New Construction Project (Phase I): The project is located in the Ronggui Strategic Emerging Industry Development Zone, with a new planned road length of approximately 1.554 kilometers and a width of approximately 17 to 30 meters.
III. Ronggui Subdistrict Guizhou Avenue West (West of Lungui Road Section) Road New Construction Project: The project is located in the Ronggui Strategic Emerging Industry Development Zone, with a new planned road length of approximately 1.001 kilometers and a width of 60 to 70 meters.
8. Zongqi Road (Guizhou Avenue East to Wenming East Road Section) Road Project
The project is located in Ronggui Shangjiashi Community, starting from Guizhou Avenue East in the north and ending at the planned Wenming East Road in the south. The road is 464.15 meters long, with a current width of 16 meters and a planned width of 35 meters, designed as dual-direction 4 lanes, with a road grade of urban secondary trunk road.
9. Tianyue Jiayi West-Side Road Project
The project is located in Rongli Community, with a total land area of 14,200 square meters. Two roads with a total length of approximately 443.454 meters and a width of 22 meters each will be newly built. The first road has a route length of 335.971 meters, starting from the Xinyou Road service road in the south and ending at the 22-meter planned road in the north; the other road has a route length of 107.483 meters, starting from the west-side road of Tianyue Jiayi in the west and ending at the planned service road of Bigui Road in the east. The project is designed according to urban branch road standards, with a design driving speed of 20 km/h and dual-direction 4 lanes.
10. Ronggui Subdistrict Beautiful Polder Town Construction Project (Ronggui Subdistrict Xijiao Stream Comprehensive Improvement and Xijiao Stream Two-Side Road New Construction Project)
The Ronggui Subdistrict Xijiao Stream Comprehensive Improvement and Xijiao Stream Two-Side Road New Construction Project has a total length of approximately 2,200 meters, starting from Huiyuan Gate in the north and ending at Xijiao Water Gate in the south.
