On February 4, in Wuhan Optics Valley Science Island, an aerial view shows the national major science and technology infrastructure project—the Deep Geotechnical Engineering Disturbance Simulation Facility—resembling "three cobblestones." The construction work has been basically completed, and scientific research equipment will be brought in for installation. This is the first major scientific facility on Optics Valley Science Island and will create a future "China Geomirror." Once the project is put into use, it can comprehensively reveal the evolution laws of the structure, state, and behavior of deep rock and soil masses under engineering disturbance conditions, greatly enhance China's innovation capacity and level in the field of deep engineering technology, and provide important scientific and technological support for engineering construction in transportation, water conservancy, energy, and other fields.
