Recently, the main line of the Guangfo Bridge System Project (Phase I) was officially opened to traffic, marking a solid step forward by Guangzhou and Foshan in coordinated regional development.

The Guangfo Bridge System Project (Phase I) is located in the core area where three districts meet—Baiyun District and Liwan District of Guangzhou and Nanhai District of Foshan. It starts at Jianshe Avenue in Nanhai District, Foshan, crosses the Baisha River from west to east, and then connects to the roads on Datansha Island in Liwan District, Guangzhou, enjoying a highly advantageous geographical location.

The Guangfo Bridge is about 1.3 kilometers long and comprises one main-line bridge and four ramp bridges. The main bridge adopts a single-tower, central-cable-plane steel-concrete composite girder cable-stayed structure with a total length of 278 meters. The main tower uses a steel-concrete composite structure and features a distinctive longitudinal inverted-Y shape, soaring into the clouds at a height of 100.5 meters. The main line is configured with dual-direction six lanes at a design speed of 60 km/h, while the auxiliary roads have dual-direction four lanes at a design speed of km/h. During construction, the project team of Sinohydro Bureau 14 Co., Ltd. adopted multiple advanced techniques and innovative measures, overcoming numerous technical challenges such as the heavy lifting weight of the main girder, the many segments of the irregular main tower, and the difficulty of controlling installation precision, thereby ensuring the smooth completion of the main line construction.

As a key project in the 14th Five-Year Plan for the comprehensive integration of Guangzhou and Foshan, the completion and opening of the Guangfo Bridge System Project (Phase I) is of great significance. It will further improve the transportation network in Nanhai District of Foshan and the Jinshazhou area of Guangzhou, strengthen transport links between Guangzhou and Foshan, promote cultural and economic exchanges and integration between the two cities, and play a positive role in advancing the development of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area and the coordinated regional development of Guangdong Province's "one core, one belt, one region" strategy.
