At 13:00 local time on January 9, Unit 1 of the Ulog Hydropower Station in Bosnia and Herzegovina was successfully connected to the grid for power generation, marking the full grid connection of the entire station.

The Ulog Hydropower Station in Bosnia and Herzegovina is the first hydropower station undertaken by a Chinese enterprise in Bosnia and Herzegovina, and also the first hydropower EPC project of Power Construction Corporation of China (PowerChina) in the European market, with a total installed capacity of 35.14 MW. Located in the municipality of Kalinovik in Republika Srpska, Bosnia and Herzegovina, it is the most important clean energy project in the region. It is designed with a maximum dam height of 53 meters and a total reservoir capacity of 6.44 million cubic meters. Its main structures include a concrete double-curvature arch dam, an ecological flow small hydropower station, a diversion tunnel on the right bank, and a water conveyance and power generation system on the left bank.

Since the commencement of water-filled commissioning of the units on November 2, 2024, the project team of Sinohydro Bureau 7 Co., Ltd. under PowerChina has strictly followed contractual standards in carrying out commissioning tasks, successfully achieving grid connection of Unit 2 for power generation on November 27; at the same time, commissioning of Unit 1 was initiated, with a series of key tests successfully completed, including unit balance tests, bearing temperature stability tests, governor disturbance tests, and excitation system characteristic tests. At present, Unit 2 has been operating stably for approximately 400 hours.

Once completed, the Ulog Hydropower Station will continue to provide clean electricity to the local area, promote regional economic development, and support the energy transition.
